have you tried to replace the fuel filter ? and checked for air leaks in fuel lines ?

I have heard that the fuel pumps fail on these if you can get your hands on a fuel pressure tester check out the pressure available ,if you are just clagging another pump inline it may be the old/other pump could be restricting flow ,check fault codes there may be a fuel pressure issue there...

Having recently had an IRD failure i have acquired a replacement to put on while i try to rebuild the old one . I collected the unit yesterday ,today i have got it up onto the bench to inspect it , i have found tired oil seals and what looks like an attempted oil leak repair around the casing on...
