What did you do with your Range Rover today

Swapped the E Box cooling fan .... nice job, old one knackered!

    P38A New here with problems

Of all the issues I would tackle the lack of keys and get the door locks working properly. You have key no 2? The faulty board can probably be repaired but I would get a new number 1 from Land Rover.

    P38A Stereo

I would fit a GROM unit. This attaches to the CD socket on the back of the head unit (late Alpine type) and then offers connection to iPod, mp3 player, bluetooth phone, usb stick, depending on which model you choose. I have the BT3 and play music from the phone and also have hands free call...

changing a p38 engine and other parts

Hi, You could try a 4.6 HSE, 2000 year if you can find one. It is possible to get a bit more power by changing the camshaft, which is quite easy to do. But, if you add more power, you have to brake harder for the bends as these cars roll quite a lot if pushed hard cornering. If you need help...

    P38A oops!!

If it is any comfort, I recently reversed into a rough stone wall but the bumper is only scratched. So, an alternative might be a black bumper skin.

    Homologation

I just did this in Portugal. The car must have a VIN plate on the slam panel under the bonnet. Mine didn't and LR got me one. Then it is tested for conformity and roadworthiness, and any non-factory accessories must be removed.

    P38A Diagnostically challenged

Nanocom is very good. Last time I looked, an additional licence was about GBP 50? You would need one licence for GEMS and one for Thor. I don't think that Nanocom reads the LPG ecu.

    Coils to Bags !!!

There are four height sensors, one per wheel. Assuming that the sensors are ok and the ecu fit, you would need to budget for the four new bags, valve block overhaul and compressor kits. Or, if you are feeling flush, a new compressor. I fitted Arnott Gen 3s to mine ... don't really know if they...

    ABS Ring/CV Joint

Yes, well, never assume anything! Is nothing sacred! :) Certainly you can get good quality alternator bearings .... at least that's what the seller says!

    ABS Ring/CV Joint

Where are the bearings made? That will answer the question, imo. Sweden, Germany etc. I would not touch anything like this from the far east any more, but I guess if you don't use the car much it is not so important ..... Surely the oil seals are there? .... I changed mine not so long ago...
  12. S

    ABS Ring/CV Joint

Make sure the bearings come with new nuts .... and circlips. And, you should also replace the oil seals (genuine ones). I bought my bearings on that auction site ..... not Chinese and I THINK they were GBP 75 each...

    P38A Uneven tyre wear problem

If you mean bearing wear enough to let the wheel rock from side to side, I think you would notice other issues first like abs sensor damage and brake disc wear .... alignment maybe? Does it drive evenly?

    P38 bonnet vents

Before doing anything, read this: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/p38a-range-rover/183462-under-bonnet-seals-warning-do-not-remove.html

P38A EAS Fault, how to pin-point

Diagnostics will probably reveal a dud height sensor ... when you try to adjust a height the dud one won't respond properly. Storey Wilson's software will allow you to do this. Does this happen when in Highway mode? (which is likely where most of the wear on the sensor track occurs)...

    P38A Does anybody know if..

You need to pull out all four air bag feed lines from the valve block and put a Schraeder valve on the ends. They are available on eBay. Then inflate evenly.

    P38 bonnet vents

It is normal. The temps in Dubai reach the low 50s and my P38 just kept going ....... It is not a good idea to tamper with the air flow under the bonnet.

    Death wobble!?

I left my old one in Dubai if you want it ...... chain was noisy but I think the VC was ok. PM if interested.

    Aircon

Yes, the Shraeder type valves can be replaced.
