    enhance turbo whistle

ive done some research and it looks like having no muffler is technically illegal..can anyone confirm? turns out my landy only has the big one in the middle (not sure if this is standard or what) so i'd have to fit one at the end if i did get a straight through pipe

    enhance turbo whistle

Cheers I'll look them up, this might sound a bit dumb but what exactly is it and where does it go? and is it safe? I don't want to end up wrecking a perfectly good 300tdi haha :/

thanks for all the replies, I feel much more in the know now! To remove the middle section of pipe, is it just bolted or is it welded?

right thanks for the advice then, sounds good! I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud or anything but a bit more grunt would be appreciated

    enhance turbo whistle

Ok cheers for the advice :) Am I right in saying that the 'straight-through' pipe replaces the straight part of the exhaust containing the muffler and simply doesn't have a muffler on it, so it's a bit noisier?

cheers I'll have a look at Paddock's, just seen a video on youtube of a straight-thru exhaust and it sounded nicely meaty

    enhance turbo whistle

Thanks bankz, don't really think i've got the budget for a new exhaust at the moment though. And everyone else - yeah I thought it was a stupid question, but you don't ask if you don't get do you?

Right, This might sound really stupid, but I like the whistling sound turbos make. Like the really loud one on those american 2/half ton trucks. Is there any way to (safely) make a 300tdi whistle more? I don't imagine there is, but on the off-chance... Cheers

Safe to drive short distance on dying clutch?

Good news, I got back without a hitch, it went so fine that I had the old problem of "it makes a noise but it won't make a noise in front of the mechanic" but they'll set it right I'm sure

Safe to drive short distance on dying clutch?

It's in Rusholme gemsdad. I don't have a breakdown subscription but I can be towed if need be. I'm going to check on a quiet road this afternoon and if it seems too difficult I won't bother. Thanks for all your replies

Safe to drive short distance on dying clutch?

Hi, The clutch seems to be going on my Defender (a 96 300tdi with 81k miles) By which I mean the clutch pedal keeps 'sticking' down and the bite point has dropped dramatically, I keep having to pull the pedal up with my toe. It's driveable but a worry and a pain. This issue happened a while...

    fuel starvation - defender 90 300tdi

Hi guys, thanks for the responses and sorry I never got back to you. Turns out there were large lumps of rust in the fuel lines and tank, probably from using a rusty old fuel can to refuel. A bit of Canned Air to clear the lines and a magnet on a stick to get the bits out the tank and she was...

    fuel starvation - defender 90 300tdi

Hi everyone, I've seen a few of the posts about this already but none have helped me out much. My 1996 90 has a fuel starvation problem (it will go along fine on the flat for a while but loses power and almost judders to a halt on hills or past 30mph) I've replaced the fuel filter and lift...
