    EGR differences

Did the design of the EGR valve/pipework change between 1999 and 2001?

    D2 wheels onto P38

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. Seems to me that if the thread size is the same, a set of 27mm D2/P38 nuts should sort it. Failing that, changing the hub studs to standard P38 should allow me to mount the D2 wheels. Can't belief the wheel holes have been enlarged, so it has to be the...

    D2 wheels onto P38

I'm confused too. My old P38 ('99 T-reg) had 27mm heads on 16" alloy wheels. My new P38 has 22mm heads on 18" Hurricane alloys. The 16" wheels from the d2 (described by the seller) have holes that are larger than those in the Hurricanes (about the size you'd expect for a 27mm Stud). I have an...

    D2 wheels onto P38

My aged P38 has gone off down the road, and its place has been taken by a shiny 2001 version. About 6 months ago I happened across a set of new-ish winter tyres on 16" D2 alloy rims, and having been assured that the stud pattern was the same, went ahead and bought them - they came without wheel...

    3.9 V8 used to start well ........

Can fully appreciate that the solution could pose a security issue in the wrong hands. But in the meantime I still have a problem, and would hope that anyone who might be able to help my dilemma would PM me, please.

    3.9 V8 used to start well ........

The battery was shot, wouldn't hold charge any more, so I used a nearly new 100a/h battery from my P38 to try it.

    3.9 V8 used to start well ........

I have a old K- reg 3.9 Vogue, which I had converted into a pickup some years ago. For various reasons it wasn't used that much, and more recently had just been left standing for at least 6 months, in which time the battery had become discharged. In the past all it had needed was a pair of jump...

What do my fault codes mean?

To save me trawling through all the threads hoping to find some pics of the location and method to find and clean the connections next to the door jambs, can you direct me to a description, youtube link, etc please. I've got an intermittent RR signal incorrect fault that is driving me nuts. Thanks.

    OBD2 Scanner on P38 & L322

I recently bought a D900 Version 2012 scanner on ebay, thinking it could be a useful bit of kit as it claimed to be able to read and reset the fault codes on any vehicle with an OBD port. I have used the EAS unlock via my laptop with some success and have also connected with a Sync-Mate that...

    Airbag light on

I had a problem when the driver's door mechanism froze in the icy weather, so I got in through the passenger side and tried in vain to open the driver's door from the inside. Unfortunately, I was a bit too heavy handed (nothing new there then!) and I heard something snap inside. To cut a long...

    Key code lock out !!!

I've had a similar problem for the past week - so bloody frustrating - but now cured. Changed batteries in keyfob, red light working but no response from the central locking and immobiliser. I did manage to get the immobiliser to 'mobilise' by using the Key access code but that was very...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

I'm sorry to say that these symptoms are just like the ones I had. I didn't want to believe it was the head for the same reason as you have given so I spent a small fortune on other cheaper possiblities that just didn't work. I see your posts and can't see anything further than your problem...

    radiator blown!!!!!

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but this symptom has been covered in another thread about P38 overheating. The worst case scenario for split radiators, and I found out the hard way with 2 of them, is that you may have a fine crack in your cylinder head and that causes a slow build up of...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

Hi All I found my new head on ebay and luckily it must have been a slow week for P38 heads because I was the only bidder and paid £700 for it. I know that ebay is sometimes a bit of a risk, but the head arrived in a wooden box with LR stickers on and when opened it was clearly brand spanking...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

Just a further thought that may be useful. For a long time, my mechanic didn't believe that the head was to blame because he said that the engine was running really well with no real loss of power, so there was no loss of performance, just a steady build up of pressure through the fine crack in...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

I have to tell you I am not a motor mechanic, but my experience is similar to yours so all I can tell you is how I managed the situation. I tried all of the things that have been suggested - thermostat, sensor, head gasket, skimmed head, pressure test, etc. Not the water pump though, because...

    P38 DSE Overheating (yet another)

Your posts have an all-too-familiar ring to them. I went exactly the same route and I fear you will come to the same conclusion. If you are overpressurising the system, where's that sort of pressure coming from? If the gaskets all check out - It's got to be the head. Good Luck.
