Hi Bankz5152, It has been running nicely in this hot weather so have held back on the purchase of the MAF. When it starts again I will unplug and order the unit. I will have a look for the MAP sensor and give that a wipe with thinners which I guess would be similar to brake cleaner.

Thank you for your input guy's Clutch? Feels more like brake drag, massive lack of power but only for a short period Vinlander. I ask the question about the ERG as I am not sure what symptoms are for a sick ERG.

When cold (only on occasions) my Defender 90 TD5 is extremely slow off the mark. 55k miles. After about 3 minutes it perks up and zooms off. Could this be down to the ERG? Thanks in anticipation.

Just popped out to fill up the washer bottle and the was no resistance from the bonnet release handle. The bonnet is shut tight. Anyone had this problem before. Need to get into engine bay without a can opener if possible.:(

Hi everyone just noticed smoke from the exhaust when going round tight right handers and then pulling away (mini roundabouts) 90 hard top TD5 52,000 miles, just been through MOT (09/02/16) no real issues. Confusing Smokey numbers... Absorption coefficient 1.42 l/min Mean absorption coefficient...

Will do guy's. 2003 - 46,000 miles do you think that the solenoid would have worn out in that time. I understand that it depends on the number of times the key is turned but thinking about it I wonder if the wear would be that excessive. Will check the connections.

Won't bloody do it now! All good. I just know tomorrow morning it is going to play up. Feel it in my water. I know the radio light didn't light up and can't remember if I heard a click. If I do get a click what would you guess James? td5nut, will check starter motor earth tomorrow.

Thought I was stranded on the supermarket forecourt. During the day when I turned the key nothing and then turn again and all's well. Didn't think that much about it, just another defender quirk. 10 mins ago repeated turns and nothing then at last she fired into life. Thought the breakdown boys...

Power from windscreen washers is very low. Just about reaches the bottom of the windscreen. Tried searching but no real answers that I could find. Are all 90 TD5's similer? I would like to remove the tank tp clean out. Is this a fairly easy job?
