That's probably the best way to do it, actually, if I get your drift correctly. You'd only need to cut a notch a few mil deep on the side of the handle of the spanner to get the necessary wriggle room to be able to turn those nuts 60 degrees (or one flat) at a time. Not as grim as it sounds as...

No, pumping never made any improvement, it was all down to the twin nuts on the shaft of the master cylinder piston. Somehow the locknut had come loose and they'd both made their way up the shaft towards the MS, leaving about a quarter inch of play between them and the lever knuckle they bear up...

Bingo! Well done, sir! That's precisely what's happened. They're only off about a quarter of an inch but it's enough to account for so much more travel on the clutch pedal. Thanks! :)

Found it, thanks. Tucked away a bit to say the least! Anyway, it's pretty much full; only a few mil below the level line, so that all seems in order. Got something in the back of my mind about checking to see if it changes when the pedal is pushed so will check that (should be a challenge...

I can see it now. I don't remember anything like that. On mine there's a white plastic reservoir with a white plastic cap for the fluid immediately in front of the brake servo and directly above the master cylinder. So mine's obviously not the same model as yours, then. I gotta hit the hay now...

No I haven't as yet. The problem here is like I said, the demographic is too small. The likelihood of finding a particular buyer wanting this specific model in this specific colour of this specific year who also has nine and a half thou burning a hole in his pocket is vanishingly small! :)...

We don't have MoTs as such here - except for PSVs and such like. Instead they use a combination of police spot-checks and punitive fines if anything's been found to be unroadworthy. I would expect this LR to pass a UK test right away with nothing needing to be done. It's taxed for another 6...
