revs limited and engine management light!

Hi again guy's, I have a problem, think I know the cause but wanted to run it by you before I spend the cash! Firstly ive had a bad starting fault for over a year (there is another thread on here trying to get to the bottom of it that I will link later) In the end I decided to use a local...

Help I think my engine is stuffed!

Garage has checked compression, and all seems ok with the pistons, engine turns over no problem. the turbo has blown though approx 10mm play in the turbo shaft! so looks like i'm looking at a recon turbo as well as the injector 2 to change. Can anyone recommend a recon turbo supplier as...

Help I think my engine is stuffed!

ive had a look at it in the garage and it had cylinder 2 full of oil the others aren't. My mechanic and i both agree that if the turbo had blown we would expect to see oil in all the cylinders not just no 2, as it would have come up the inlet manifold which is common to all cylinders. He put...

Help I think my engine is stuffed!

I have an 04 td4 hse, I have had starting issues over the last year so took it for diagnostics check found several fault codes, 1 being injector 2 malfunction. Fault codes were all cleared and I was told to drive it for a few days and then re check for fault codes. 3 days later on the m4 I think...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

the first 2 photos are what i took of my car. it went into the garage yesterday for diagnostics, came back with a few alarms these have now been cleared as they were probably due to me taking plugs off ect. need to drive it for a few days now and go back and see if any new fault codes have come...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

does the cam shaft sensor fault not usually make the starting worse the hotter the engine gets though? as mine is only bad at starting when warm, when its hot or stone cold, there is no problem starting. I egr valve isn't bypassed as far as i know.

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

O.K. Ive just done a leak back test at high pressure. Removed the injector plugs, and remove and clamped the leak back pipe. cranked the engine and watched the injectors, all were pooling a little fuel in the top but none were spitting, spluttering or squirting, all seemed to look the same. I...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

I have been using the car for a while now since i changed the glow plugs, and have realized that my starting problem only seems to be when warmish, cold starts are no problem, hot starts are no problem (fire 1st turn of the key without any throttle) but when the car has sat for an hour or two...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

Any suggestions on what it might be if not the glow plug circuit? the car starts fine when the glow plug light comes on (then off), but when there is no light (and its definitely cold enough for it to come on) then it struggles to fire, and gives a large plume of white smoke out the rear when...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

yes the one in the intake is on the driver side, that is connected. im fairly happy with the idea that the mystery plug is now obsolete, but my intermittent cold starting is still a problem after changing the glow plugs. the glow plug light on the dash sometimes doesn't light up even when...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

ive looked at more engine photos on google and it seems that i do have a extra cable coming from the L shaped box to the rail sensor. so it does sound like a feeasable explanation. i'll put it back togethar tonight and see if my new glow plugs have made any difference:scratching_chin: Ill...

Would that go to the same junction box as the glow plug leads though ?

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

the fuel rail sensor is wired direct into the l shaped fuse box, the mystery plug comes from a small junction box that is below the engine temp sensor and is common to the glow plug leads (they come out of the same box). appreciate your input guys, hopefully get to the bottom of this with...

    Bad starting, help!! Loose wires!!

http://www.nikrivers.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/oilfilter-exploded.jpg i think that this is the mystery plug here, next to the inlet manifold pressure sensor on the right of the pic, they seem to join up in a Y shape, but my inlet manifold sensor is separate and im left with this odd...
