    I'm going to go for cheapest plug leads, just as long as their new I hope they'll work. New MAF and plugs just fitted , still hunting and misfiring, (datatek, even with loose petrol cap),especially in lower ranges. Purge valve and leads next.

    Many thanks for the advices above, good to find the ECU, I was worried it was under the seat. In my 1997 2.5 it is next to the battery. So was shocked when I ouldn't find one on the 4.6 ! Any recommendations for BEST Plugs. Leads, ?? Thanks for the tip on the MAF. and tip on checking the plugs.

    Resetting Adaptive Values

    Just done a "reset adaptations" on my 1999/2001 4.6 HSE with the NANOCOM. It said it would inform the ECU to reset the adaptations. I hope it does ! Was running a bit miss firey.

    Pipe changed and running nicely again, incidentally have just changed the alternator for a new one and straight away the diesel consumption is noticeably reduced ! Could the old Alternator have made such a difference?. It'l pay for itself in no time.

    Is the Mass Air Filter the MAF and is it the one attached to the fuel filter. 2.5dse 1997.? i.e. where is the MAF.

    One of the issues with P38 s the original rubber s deteriorate over time , my two have 24 and 22 years each , so will probably have to renew all the rubber bits eventually. especially if been standing and laid up as my v8 was. ah well. Do modern plastics last as long ?

    Thats little bugger, unless you knew you'd think it was a screw. Superb shot of the underside of the manifold, makes it easy to show the wife so she can do it next time.

    Just had similar issue, lack of power, bloody little rubber pipe, keeps dropping off, just interference fit ! Thanks to every body for the remedy and advice.
