Update: Just spent 3 hours waiting in the local Land Rover garage whilst they fitted the new brackets. I thought it was going to be a complicated job but in reality, the bracket is held on by the radius arm bolts and would take 5 minutes to complete. Sorry for the poor quality pictures.

Removed winch bumper, winch and after-market radiator grill and replaced them with standard items.

Just removed mine. I don’t plan to participate in any severe challenges but easy enough to replace if I change my mind. Mine was the drainpipe type rather than the moulded plastic ones.

Read some of the Defender2.net posts. I didn’t realise it’s been an on-going issue for years. If the brackets are fitted and the axle still fails; will Land Rover pay for the repair? The recall notice fails to mention that!

I was on the verge of saying Goodbye to the forum because I have sold my D2 V8 but due to some strange wheeler dealing involving a camera, a box of wine and an X-type Jag; I am now the owner of an ‘03 D2 ES TD5.

I bought a kit which included all the metalwork/arms (reconditioned) as well as new Genuine bushes and bolts. That way, the garage could just cut off the bolts and replace it all with the minimum of time spent on the job. Costwise, there’s a hint of swings and roundabouts about it.
