I know this has been done to death a little, but as I've a sill missing (well ok eaten by the rust monster), is it worth replacing both sills with rock sliders or just fixing the problem (repair one side) and looking at sliders to bolting onto the chassis? Also, as I can't weld for toffee...

I don't seem to have a stud/bolt on my 300tdi discos exhaust manifold (bottom right as you look at it). Looks like there should be one there. can anyone confirm it should have one and if so anyone know the part number as I am getting some exhaust gas escape there.

Right pain in the arse given the recent snow, but I'm getting troubles with the diff lock. I can easily get high/low diff locked setting, but can't change back to non-diff lock without putting the steering lock on and giving it some welly (which following a large bang takes the diff lock off)...

From my 300TDI manual experience - I run 100% diesel at less than 5 degrees cos of the risk of your veggie oil turning into goo and blocking things up. But warmer times of year I've run 100 veggie oil. Also, waste veggie oil (WVO) filtered seems better at lower temperatures. Not sure why -...

Mine died a few years back after a little water ingress :D I've just left it mostly dead (sounds like yours, but I get just front speakers for a few seconds then nothing). I will at some point take the thing out and have a look.

Anyone have any idea what the part numbers are for the cooling hoses from the heater matrix (in the bulk head) to the engine (need feed and return hoses)? For 300tdi disco 1.

So with my 'hoping its the selector cos it's easier to fix' hat on I stripped out the centre console, drilled out the rivets holding the rubber membrane and peered into the top of the gear box..... Not quite sure what I was looking at I stuck a good ole finger down the hole, which came out...

Just read this and laughed out loud, the wife thinks I was larfing at (the largely unfunny) Comic Relief - so got a bonus smile from the wife who's busily enjoying the program.

moving the gear stick is the problem, it goes in gear ok with no crunching but it does take a fair bit of muscle to move the leaver even left-right in neutral.

Had a recon gear box from Ashcroft two years back, it's only done about 6K miles from then, and oil levels are ok with good clear oil still. Will change just in case, but I'm sure the Ashcroft site used to talk about a washer that could fail causing these symptoms. Might just be imagination...

If it's the first time you've used veggie oil you may have to do a fuel filter / sedimenter clean after the first tank - the veggie oil seems very good at cleaning out the fuel system and can fill up your filter with gunk.
