Also to be able to get the screw in, number 10 on that drawing, i drilled a little hole through the door frame on the inside, this allows you to put a screw driver straight through and get onto the screw without having to take the window mechanism off - if that makes sense, if not i can get you...

when i did mine (1991 defender) they were the same as the drawing, where number eight points to on the right of that drawing is a little brass pin, if you push that in, the other part of part 8 slides off and fits to the new barrel, and that makes it longer and has the threaded hole in it. hope...

also it might be worthwhile disconnecting the unions at the injectors, and turning it over until diesel comes out of the fuel lines to get rid of any air that might be in them.

if its the same as a series III there is a bleed screw on the diesel pump, then a priming lever on the engine block which you pump until diesel flows out of it, then put the screw back in and start it, it may take a few attempts

it's my understanding that the 3 brg engine had a ratio of 8:1 and the 5 brg was 7:1, hope this helps.
