    Bent Stub Axle ?

Bad luck , very frustrating . I had the exact same problem just two weeks ago. Unfortunately it turned out to be an ever so slightly bent axle casing , enough to be pushing the half shaft up against the Stub . the symptoms that led me there were vibrations under load at any speed and steering...

Has Anyone Installed a Catch Can?

A slight thread resurrection but the Provent 200 available on eBay for less than £20 is a doddle to fit and looks factory finish ! Genuine Provent is around £90 so not sure if eBay ones are a knock off

    Engine tapping/rattle/knocking

Changed leaky vacuum pump yesterday but it didn't make any difference to the tapping noise. However I readjusted the tappets today and although I haven't warmed it up it seems to have made a difference.

    Engine tapping/rattle/knocking

I have exactly the same problem, for the book it is not related to the speed the wheels are turning but to the RPM. You've got better sound insulation on your discovery but in the defender I can also hear it faintly while accelerating and even cruising but is more noticeable when decelerating...

    300tdi Heating and cooling problems

Hi Andrew, I have been having exactly the same problems, although my coolant did not freeze. Here is the link to the thread I started last week http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/overheating-intermittent-hot-air-176252.html All sorted now but unfortunately it sounds like you may have to do...

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Just been for a test drive and all appears to be working again, thank you all for your advice. I can't believe it turned out to be a little rubber pipe !!

    defender 300 tdi overheating problem

I had exactly that problem over the past few weeks. It turned out that it was the 'y' shaped coolant ejector pipes coming from the rad and stat housing was blocked (the one that goes to expansion bottle). That in turn caused the system to pressurize causing overheating and the head gasket to go...

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Replaced 'y' shaped ejector pipe on reservoir tank and I now have heating in the landy again, a bit concerned however as there seems to be a little bit of white foam sitting and air bubbles gurgling up out of the reservoir tank, almost unnoticeable on idle but increases with revs. Just used a...

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Checked heater matrix pipes and matrix = no blockage Checked thermostat in hot water on hob = not faulty Checked Radiator bleed hose by blowing into it = not blocked Checked Thermostat bleed hose by blowing into it = BLOCKED ( no bubbles coming out of reservoir tank ) Is this a pressure...

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Thanks James, Shifty and Ratty, I thought they should both be hot ( Heater box pipes ) will check that out now. The thermostat I got from an Autofactor and it's made by First Line. I will also check the temperature of the Radiator and get back to you all. Cheers Rich

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Thanks Bluehaze, I put a new thermostat in when the problems started, I suppose it could be a dud but unlikely.. Do you know if both matrix pipes should be getting hot as only one is at mo

    Overheating and intermittent hot air

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I hope you don't mind me kicking off with a problem I'm having !! My 300tdi heater stopped working a few weeks back followed a few days later by the engine overheating. I thought head gasket so changed it this week. However it's not made any difference. Hot...

    Hello from Gloucestershire

Hi all, I've decided to join up as I've been looking at the forum for hints and tips on how to fix the landy for some time and thought it was probably best to give something back !! I've got a 110 300tdi which has just started giving me grief and a reliable old Series 3 2.25 diesel. My wife...
