Just popped into my local parts shop and with a bit of head scratching, he came up with this.. He wasn't too convincing! Will it be ok to use? Many thanks all.

ACE block seals. What have I done wrong?? Grrr!

Taken it all off again and found that on one of the new inserts the o rings were completely mullered. I guess I just didn't line up the pipe end accurately enough. Off to find some replacements. I did notice that the ones that I took out had an additional o ring right on the plastic bit (the...

ACE block seals. What have I done wrong?? Grrr!

I didn't think they were that cheap at £14 each for a little collection of O rings. Are the LR ones really that different? Yep all parts were present. The little plastic collars which go around the flange on the pipes (which is what I think you mean) were present and not damaged. I'm certain...

ACE block seals. What have I done wrong?? Grrr!

Hi. I've spent the afternoon replacing my pipe seals on the front of the ace block. I've been putting it if because of all the bad stories on here and other forums regarding how tricky it is. Anyway, I had nothing else to do today so decided to give it a go. I had bought 4 seal kits a while...

£2000 to spend on my Td5. But on what??

That's great info guys, thanks. Egr and de-cat were on my list already. ill look into the intercooler, need to find out a bit more about that. 5-600 on ebay? It's very solid underneath so I guess a wax oil would be money well spent. Service, just had an in'n'out oil and filter one so not really...

£2000 to spend on my Td5. But on what??

Hi everyone. I'm looking to throw around £2000 at my 99 disco Td5. It's completely stock, it's my everyday driver, it's done 100,000 miles, I do take it off road occasionally for work but nothing serious. So I'm looking for suggestions as to what I should spend it on. Is there anything I...

help! stranded! cant bleed my fuel line!!!

when i tried the bleed process there was no engine management light either. i specifically looked for it as i had read about that on here too. Anyway, car is in the garage and they have replaced the pump and confirmed that it was kaputt. but he did say he had a big job getting all the air out of...

help! stranded! cant bleed my fuel line!!!

Right, ok fuel pump it is then. Been looking through various forums about this fault and somewhere i read that some early TD5's didnt have this self bleed feature. (turn on ignition, pump throttle 5 times etc..) Is this the case? Since mine is a 1999 im guessing thats an 'early' in which case...

help! stranded! cant bleed my fuel line!!!

Called the AA. He thinks the pump is knackered, but why would just changing the filter cause that to fail?

help! stranded! cant bleed my fuel line!!!

Ok but it's NEVER made any noise. I've posted about my silent fuel pump on here before as I thought it wasn't right that I couldn't hear it but it has been running up until changing the filter. Is there another way if bleeding the system??

help! stranded! cant bleed my fuel line!!!

Hi all, im a bit stuck right now. Ive just replaced my fuel filter on my 1999 Td5 and it seems the self bleeding feature either isnt working or isnt fitted! It drove about 500 yards and conked out and now refusesd to start. Im guessing its air in the fuel system. Ive tried the self bleed...

    Yet another misfire woe.....sorry!

Thanks all. sierafery, I will try the filters and actually the garage Ive just taken it to told me to do the egr removal too. I must say that prior to the other week when this started happening, it was running like a train and very smooth with it. It just started happening one day. Mikes lr...

    Yet another misfire woe.....sorry!

Well sierrafery, when stationary it revs freely up to 3500 but wont go past there. That does seem like a rev limiter, or maybe the limp mode?? nothing showed up on the fault code reader though.

    Yet another misfire woe.....sorry!

Hi all. Ive posted about this in another thread but after much tinkering im nowhere nearer finding the cause of my 'misfire'. I recently bought a 1999 Discovery Td5. 100000 miles and very comprehensive service history. It seems to have been very well looked after. (if that helps) It potters...

    The Dreaded Misfire

Thanks chrimcne, ill have another look at those pipes. I read somewhere about one of them de-laminating and collapsing when under pressure so was going to have another look at it for that reason. Took it into local garage to have codes read, loads came up but he said a lot of them were...

    The Dreaded Misfire

thanks for that sierrafery. Im going to try to get fault codes read tomorrow. If there is a problem with the pump, will that throw up a code? ive been trawling the internet again tonight and am leaning towards a fuel pump problem as ive addressed all the other common reasons for these...
