    Rover 4.2 EFi Crankshaft

I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed with the amount of wear after less than 100k miles...but it seems it's not entirely uncommon with the Rover V8. With regards to the 4.2 crank, it is my understanding that it will fit into the 3.9 block with just changing the pistons for low...

    Rover 4.2 EFi Crankshaft

Hi all, I'm beginning the rebuild of the 3.9 EFi from my Discovery 1. I'm rebuilding the entire car as a 100" series/defender "hybrid" and for peace of mind I thought I'd strip the 96k engine block (which was running fine when it was SORN'd in 2011) and rebuild with new bearings etc. I'm glad I...

    L322 L322 Air Suspension Fault

I'm guessing this is probably to do with the valve block at the compressor - does anyone know how I can test it/disassemble and check it out?

    L322 L322 Air Suspension Fault

Hi all, found a hole in the front of the air reservoir due to corrosion but now have a different air suspension error after replacing the reservoir. I'm no longer getting the "pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir" error but I am now getting "Air Spring Air Supply Fault...

    L322 L322 Air Suspension Fault

Thanks for the suggestion Henry but wouldn't leaky spring seals mean the car would lower with time (ie overnight)? It holds height consistently without issue.

    L322 L322 Air Suspension Fault

So I removed the air compressor today and bench tested it - all is well on that front. Also tried connecting up a brand new air compressor, just incase, but no difference. I removed the front wheel arch liner to check the pipes and valve block and they all appear to be intact and in good nick...

    L322 L322 Air Suspension Fault

Hi all, Cruising along at 30mph on boxing day in my RR, all of a sudden there was a warning chime, "Air Suspension Fault - Normal Height Only" appeared on the dash, the light disappeared from the height selector rocker switch and there was an audible release of air from infront of the driver...

L322 Newby needs help my 2005 4.2 Supercharged will not start

So, the culprit has been found - same issue that solved tricky!! This strap is located on the driver's side of the car, just inside the wheel arch liner (and further forward than where the starter motor is located). Definitely worth checking for anyone else who has electrical issues, as it looks...

L322 Newby needs help my 2005 4.2 Supercharged will not start

All suggestions so far are valid and helpful! I only encountered this problem on Friday at work and alongside a fairly jammed weekend of other things I have so far done the following: Charged the battery overnight, with the car disconnected entirely from the battery whilst doing so & re-trying...

L322 Newby needs help my 2005 4.2 Supercharged will not start

Yeah I suspected battery initially too but unfortunately doesnt seem to be the cause. Getting ~12.4V at the battery which I dont think is too bad. Left it on charge overnight, with the negative disconnected from the car to let everything drain fully & tried to start it today with the battery...

L322 Newby needs help my 2005 4.2 Supercharged will not start

Hi Tricky, I realise this is an old thread but it sounds similar in ways to what I've suddenly started experiencing. I have a 56 plate (2007MY) 4.2 FFRR, which as of yesterday, after a symptom free drive to lunch, wouldn't crank 20 minutes later. The key unlocks the car, the steering column...

    L322 4.2 S/C has lost 60 horses and very fumey...please help :(

Lol, I have no qualms using the aircon - my quotes on the aircon comment were because why would you care when you have a rich running car that can only manage about 14mpg, yet some people genuinely care about this haha! No but seriously, I would like to open my windows :)

    L322 4.2 S/C has lost 60 horses and very fumey...please help :(

When I say windows down, I mean whilst the car is doing 15mph+. Stationary it's not so bad as there is no airflow to cause a vacuum effect by having the window down.

    L322 4.2 S/C has lost 60 horses and very fumey...please help :(

You can't smell the fumes at all with the windows closed, whether you have the blower and a/c on or not. It seems to only be with the windows down which makes me think it's being drawn forward in the cabin up from the exhaust tips. It has been up on the ramp getting investigated at the front as...

    L322 4.2 S/C has lost 60 horses and very fumey...please help :(

Hi all... going to go into a bit of a spiel here so that anyone with any technical knowledge can have an overview of all the facts - I apologise in advance! I purchased the above car back in July, a 56 plate (MY07) with 94k on the clock. I knew it had a slightly different rear section on the...

2007 L322 Supercharged Electronic Rear Diff Oil spec

Hi all, I recently purchased a 2007 full fat 4.2 Supercharged, which has an electronically controlled rear diff. I'm in the process of doing a fair bit of preventative maintenance which includes changing all of the running gear oils to give me satisfaction that I've done my best to prevent any...

    Forward Drive issue... WORRIED!

I took the car for a 30 minute drive tonight, it didn't have any issues whatsoever, gear changes were smooth etc. I did notice however when I got out there was a very slight smell of warm oil and I had a look under the car - didn't notice oil dripping or anything but the sump cover does look a...

    Forward Drive issue... WORRIED!

You're probably right about the shift motor - do you happen to know if it would flag up an error message that I could check with all comms? As for the clutch slipping, wouldn't that be a continuous issue, rather than intermittent? I'll have a look for RRPhil, he does seem like somewhat of a...

    Forward Drive issue... WORRIED!

OK, so as of last week, I have got in the Rangie thinking one of the brakes is sticking badly (it has had almost every caliper replaced bar one!) as I put it into drive and it wouldn't pull away as normal, it needed a hell of a lot of revs, as if it were towing a 10 tonne trailer! Putting it...
