Must have lost high because , locked free wheeling hubs so could run it back but would only move with red lever in low (pulled back) so this is why think lost high !

I understand under high torque it more likely to snap but just cant get head round why they went together as it was in high when it went!

Sorry forgot to put, it moves in 2wd with transfer box in low

Hi I have just put a 2 1/2 diesal in landy (series 3) and on the first run on a steep hill in traffic, I had to stop and put handbrake on when I set of there was a loud bang, and I lost the high gear in the transfer box and broke a rear half shaft. Could anyone explain why they went together...

sorry diesel,tried running with out air filter(oil bath)connected seems to run better when hot and moving(no smoke as such)but when ticking over nearly as bad as before!!!garage say don't worry but not been much help really,it's not black smoke sort of whitish,had injectors looked at and all ok...

my series 111 2 1/4 smokes like billy O,went for it's M O T last week and failed on excessive smoke(surprise surpise)the local garage disconnected the servo(don't know what they did)and it cut the smoke down by 60% and it passed ,they put the servo back and it now smokes nearly as bad!!!Surely...

just a quick update(about poor starting)took the beast to garage (twice)had glow plugs check,diesel pump refurbed ,still won't start then went back to garage (they started it first time) turns out worn wire from the ignition ,start 's like a dream now!!!!

Forget glow plug bulb bloodly thing wont start now it's cold!!!!!lol
