sensor in top of head ?

Hi on my 300 there was a sender unit almost in line with the center rocker cover bolt on the right had side as you look in to the engine bay, its a two wire sender and its for controling the egr valve, so its now redundant:)

    fitting gauges

    Fitting Temp Guage to 300tdi

in reality think you would be better spending your hard earned cash on a new radiator instead of gauges. you can get heavy duty rad with an extra row of tubes in the core but havent come across one fitted so not sure how good they are. If you have a full width intercooler you can also get a...

    Fitting Temp Guage to 300tdi

yep know what you mean, shouldnt be a problem, I only had problems when towing, but once it happened you loose a bit of faith and the second time paranoia sets in. Mine hadnt lost any water and the rad looked perfect externally.

    Fitting Temp Guage to 300tdi

only running two after I boiled the engine twice in a row, ended up being rad partially blocked internally, anyhow paranoia set in:eek: The one in the bottom hose does work quite well but it doesnt tell you engine temp, only the temp of the water (cooled by the rad) returning into the engine...

Commited to having a go now, havent bought gauges for nowt!! this afternoon should tell, must try and get a reading from big hill on dual carrageway befor mods as it...

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

1700 what!! my gauge is in degrees C truck doesnt seem to go much beyond 600c. but to be honest I havent towed since I fitted the gauge. I'll give it a bit of a blast and see how high it goes, I sort of had 800C in my head as problem temps but dont know where i got this info from!!! Oh probe is...

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

got to go out for a bit back after lunch will have a go at first adjustment then. I will try and get temp readings for a 'control hill' at a set speed and then compare after tweeks, wondering at what egt temp problems start??

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

been following this thread for ages, really good stuff here. bit of a chicken with mine (300 manual) cos I've had a few overheating probs in the past. egr and decat is done (not much diffrence). I've now moved forward and fitted boost, egt and water temp gauges so no excuse for not...

    extra gauges

yep vent for radio, had it all stripped out this afternoon. all connected dash end and tidy just got egt probe, boost pipe and one temp sender to fit, pipework done in engine bay. thinking egt into egr blank and wondering about the same for boost pipe (obviously other end) mine still has the...

    extra gauges

wondered about vent for radio. Well got pod and cut 4 gauge holes in it, still small space for a switch x2 or something not enough for another gauge but 4 is kind of too many anyway, starting to look daft. at the minute I'm putting egt, boost and 2x water gauges (one in head and one in bottom...

    extra gauges

I'll have to take the radio out anyway to run wires/pipe so I'll have a look then. Oh no air con on mine. Agree it really does look like a vent, but as I say nowt comes out! when does yours work and do the big demister vents blow the same time!!!! would be a handy place to run the wires...
