    Wipers/headlights Electrical fault

Thought I'd update this just for future reference for anyone suffering similar problems. Ended up being simple in the end, the new earth on the inner wing I'd made for the passenger side lights, spotlights and electric fan simply wasn't up to the job. Despite showing a low resistance when...

    Wipers/headlights Electrical fault

Quick update, completely redid all of the earth mounting points for the passenger side headlight, drilled a hole through the inner wing, cleaned it with sandpaper, shoved all the earths for the various lamps into a single ring terminal and bolted that to the inner wing. Result seems to be the...

    Wipers/headlights Electrical fault

Did a search and found this thread as I'm suffering from a similar problem. Wipers work fine when headlights are off, or just with sidelights, however when headlights are turned on OR stalk is pulled back to flash the wipers start continuously by themselves. When the headlights are on the...

    200 TDI oil cooler pipework?

Brilliant guys, thanks a bunch! Internet beers owed all round :)

    200 TDI oil cooler pipework?

I thought that, but after finding pairs of the 300tdi ones for less than £50 on ebay I thought if the 200 were similarly priced it'd be hard to beat. What differences are there between the 200 and 300 hoses I take it the 300 definitely won't fit?

    200 TDI oil cooler pipework?

Hey guys, have done a search and checked the stickies but can't find what I'm after. One or both of the oil cooler pipes have corroded enough to start leaking engine oil on my 1993 K reg 200 tdi 90, and I'm having real trouble sourcing replacements. I'd like to replace both pipes for peace of...

    no mot required!

It's not 'un MOT able' it just doesn't need one to drive on the road under the new legislation. There's still nothing stopping you taking it for a test if you want to, it's just not compulsory. So don't worry, you'll still be able to get an MOT on it after the new laws come in!

Cheeky modifcations to improve off road performance!

Just wanted to run a few possible ideas past some possibly more knowledgable folks on the subject of improving my 1991 Defender 90 200 Tdi. It's being used for general off roading and trials with Land Rover clubs, so the more extreme mods such as diff lockers, cranked arms and massive body mods...

    Obviously stolen/ringed 90 200tdi on Ebay

To quote the Ringing/Hybrid guide to the letter! ''Modified/rebuilt' is also used as an explanation when people are selling stolen vehicles which have been given a new identity (a practice know as 'ringing'). Take a stolen Defender 300TDi, grind the chassis number off and fit the VIN plates...

    Whip harder

My 90 was like yours before I started playing with it, sluggish off the line, no go in any of the gears and although it would get up to 70 on a run it really wasn't happy and needed the throttle right down to stay there. I completely rebuilt mine over the winter and spent quite a lot of time and...

Making power steering lighter, box mod?

Yep all ok, looks like the best way forward is just to take it to bits and see what's going on! If I can't get it back together again I'll just put the 4 bolt on instead, nice and simple. Any other suggestions that are slightly cheaper than a gym membership would be welcomed though ;)

Making power steering lighter, box mod?

Have done a search but not been able to find exactly what I'm looking for, I guess I'm after a how to guide or some specific advice. I've got a 1991 Defender 90 fitted with what I think is the original 6 bolt steering box, pump, pipes and reservoir. Everything is in good condition with no...

    90 dumb irons

Bear in mind your chassis number is on the outside of the offside front dumb iron. If you chop this off or mess about with it too much you could give plod the wrong idea. This is a question I've been wondering about for a while, what exactly are you supposed to do if you have corrosion in the...

Searching for a Defender - heart versus head.

In Boydy's defence he's talking about factory fitted V8s, if you get a retrofitted one of which there's plenty about, or even a 50th 90 they'll be a different beastie altogether!

Searching for a Defender - heart versus head.

Long standing argument this, been on the trialling scene for years and there has always been this general assumption ever since the 200 and 300 tdi came out that they're 'nearly as a powerful as a v8'. Which isn't entirely true, what people don't remember is the Rover V8 is probably one of the...

    Battery Box

Same with mine, I had to weld mine up so cut out the bottom and fabricated a whole new panel to go in, then the inside got a coat of white Hammerite for added bling. Got a cheap rubber floor mat from Tesco and stuck it in the bottom, some M8 bar and a home made clamp keeps it locked down tight.

    I've done something very stupid

Just weld the hole up. Be sure to leave the fuel in the tank for extra hilarity.

How to test heater blower motor.

Reviving this thread after a search as I've got a similar question. Is the heater blower motor fitted to my 91 Defender 90 a permanent live with a switched earth? From examining the wiring diagram this is the only possibility I can think of. I have two heater blowers, one fitted to the...

    Fuel tank removal??

90 or a 110? The 90 has it's fuel tank underneath the driver's seat whereas the 110's is underneath the back so they're different. If it's a 90 there's two bolts on the rear body outrigger and one with a big rubber washer onto the front. Once these are undone it's only the filler and breather...
