Thanks for the reply's. Haven't checked oil level yet, too dark when I get back from work. I think the watts linkage may need new bush's but I thought that was for lateral movement, the "bang" happens when I take up drive which I wouldn't think would stress the watts linkage, but I may be wrong.

Having a slight electrical issue. A but confused here. my left hand tail light works on its own fine, and the brake light filament part of the bulb works fine on its own, but if i have the headlights on and i press the brake pedal, both filaments go out. The right hand side works just fine...

I would say its just turbo being able to push more air through due to less restrictive silicone hose, my old golf TDI which produced a lot of boost sounded exactly like that. Just my opinion though.

make sure you chock the back wheels really well, if the box's are in neutral and you lift the front wheels off the ground your hand brake is as good as useless!!
