Hi, thanks very much for the advice. I'll change the oil in the gearbox and think I'll also check the clutch system has been bled properly as pedal is lighter than my friends 300 Tdi clutch. Will keep updated on if noise goes, thanks. :)

The ticking/tapping noise only happened after fitment of the clutch, never did it before but it wasn't immediately after the clutch fitment, it's probably done about 600-700 miles since the clutch was fitted. The car had a rattle before the clutch was fitted (I bought the HD clutch to stop it)...

It won't go all the way up as one of the teeth on the regulator will most likely have snapped off. Had it happen on my '95 Tdi.

I got some Britpart pedal rubbers as the original clutch and brake ones wore thru, they were superb. I got a Heavy Duty Britpart clutch kit less than 1000 miles ago.. I'll let you know if that's part of why my car makes a horrible ticking/tapping sound (and rattling when the clutch isn't pressed)

Fitted a pioneer stereo in my V8, and thanks to a post on here worked out how to get the rear door sub working with it (wish I hadn't, the rear door sub is pathetic haha).

I was intending to replace the fan as a friend told me some cars have a controller on the fan, sort of a stepper that ups the speed depending what is selected on the controller, apparently not all cars have a simple fan motor with a positive and negative but my Tdi decided to play silly buggers...

Not sure if you have one on a TD5 but on a 300 Tdi there is a sedimenter that when has crap/water in it really causes the car to bog down. If you have one, I'd drain it. :)

Well, I bought a replacement panel with the switch and it made no difference, settings 3 and 4 were still the only ones which worked. Fan is the only thing I have left to replace.
