What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today, I as mostly been changing the hedgehog, cursing and swearing a lot, and the top intercooler hoses. Before I go to bed tonight, I needs to put the battery charger on, bit of a drain and thought it was down to the HVAC. Yesterday I cleaned all the fluff out of the HVAC fan in the dash.

    Droplinks

That's the way I had them, was worried I'd put them the wrong way round, hence the failure. Had a quick look at the other link, and it seems fine, so must be just a bad one.

    Droplinks

Mmm, the new drop links I fitted just a few months ago, don't look so new now. Perished rubber on the top boot, split on the bottom, not impressed, fleabay tat. Question, should the bottom bolt go from the inside out (with the nut on the wheel side of the rollbar) or the other way (with the nut...

    Egr Blanking Mod

I fitted an egr delete kit (which is just a tube with all the right bits welded on which replaces the original egr valve) on my previous TD4, and the mpg improved, it did get 41 mpg once or twice when it was running in front wheel drive mode, lost 1 or 2 mpg when the vcu was replaced. Got a...

But don't tell our cat Merlin that, will you, or the vet who will be doing the operation

    Horny dove

Thanks Mike, will have a look, I was tempted to leave it until something broke, but as the brakes seemed a tad heavier than usual it may be better to look into it sooner than that :)

    Horny dove

Searching for unusual noises using the search function isn't easy, neither is describing an engine noise. My TD4 decides to make a noise every now and then (which by it's random nature, is hard to record) which I can only describe as sounding like a dove call played at high speed. It seems to...

    Droplinks

I did mine recently, they were both facing opposite directions (so one had been fitted wrongly in the past), and they had different size nuts on top. An angle grinder is a good idea though, in hindsight, trying to unthread a nut up a rusty thread which wants to turn (despite finding a spanner...

    Swapping the Upper strut Mount

Just over 15 minutes to change one side? I'd say it'll be 15 minutes to remove the first rusty, seized-up bolt when I start doing mine (once the rain stops)....

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Reliability over 100k?

I like to think that once they're over the 100,000 mile point, they've either been totally rebuilt, or have had it through neglect. Freelanders seem to be a bit of a labour of love, and just like love, it often ends in tears.....

    Back into the hippo fold...

I've often wondered what they'd be like with the 1.8 VVC 160 engine?

    So excited...

If only I could find the brackets for it, found a set on ebay italy for a mere £125.....

    So excited...

It's my second TD4, my first one went through every fault in the book (apart from the heater coil thing that is). I enjoyed fixing it almost as much as driving it, and I have a shed full of bits, including one of those parcel shelf things that must have been made of gold and a soft top.....

    So excited...

I'm probably too old to get excited about it, but hopefully, sometime in the next few days, my second Freelander will be dropped off on my drive, hopefully by van, not parachute. What can possibly go wrong?

Td4 Thermostat Replacement - The Way To Do It!

There's some good photos on here of how to replace the thermostat with a Renault one....it explains all about half way down the page.

    Cooling

Air Con isn't just for the summer, it actually dries the air, so next time your screen is misted up, even if it's cold, bang the A/C on and turn the fan on full and the direction to the windscreen. You'll thank me one day...........

    heater not working

I couldn't find that other bleeding screw either after my heater packed-in the other day, it's never been brilliant but when I really needed it (wet from a day out in some very wet fields) it gave up. But on my Hippolander TD4, the failure was caused by a loss of coolant. Now my Hippo has a...

    TD4 Clutch Bleed Tutorial

Looking at the photos of everyone else's bleed nipples, there appears to be a bigger gap between the bleed spur and the input pipe than on mine, and getting anything onto the nipple itself is just about impossible, it's so close to the gearbox mount. To make things worse, no adapter in my...

    Tailgate window faulty............Aaaaggghhh.

I'm sure you've fixed it by now, but looking at the parts you found, there's a bit missing! There should be a spring seat, a piece of plastic (it was green on mine) which the spring presses against, if this is missing, the spring and cable will mangle up again, on my Freelander it had started to...

Repair a tail door window regulator

Used this thread to help me when my rear window gave up, luckily I'd realised it was about to go last week (when I was changing the driver's door lock due to that other Freelander favourite problem) and had ordered a kit off teabay....it arrived this morning which was lucky as the window dropped...
