Removing camshaft cover, all bolts were loose...

I've been told my head gasket will need doing, after I had overheating issues. I come to take off the camshaft cover and find all the bolts loose. Not only that where the injectors are some have pools of oil. Ok I'm sure the bolts are not supposed to be loose but would this mean I would get the...

    Tips on changing head gasket

After a lot of messing with the cooling system my overheating problem turned out to be the head gasket, so my task is to change it. Looking at RAVE is useful but not always the best way I have found. Could anyone break down the steps I need to remove and refit? Thanks

Keep snapping the belt tensioner auxiliary fulcrum

When I'm taking off the tensioner shock absorber it's been ok, but putting it back on levering it into place caused one of the arms on the fulcrum to snap. I ordered a new one and levering it in position I snapped one of the arms again! Now the tensioner shock looks to be now leaking a bit so...

    Tips for Viscous fan removal

I've got to replace my radiator and hoped I wouldn't have to remove the fan, but looks like I do. Now I have the diesel 2.5 and the information is a left hand thread. Just for sanity sake I should undo that in a clockwise direction?* I have tried but can't see what I can hold onto to stop it...

What gearbox oil and is gear oil treatment a good idea?

So I need to change the gearbox oil and was hoping to use Texaco MTF 94, but the gearbox has the odd leak so I was wondering whether using something like 'Wynn's Gear Oil Treatment with Stop Leak' would make things better or worse? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

So just changed my clutch (gearbox on a jack) and was hoping to drive it, clutch nicely depressed I start it and realise I can't find any gears. The lever is lose with no apparent gears to select... Reading some threads it looks like the selector pin, however looking at RAVE I think I have...

Clutch system seems not to get pressure is it the master cylinder?

So going through the fun of changing my clutch but before I pop the gearbox back on I wanted to pressurise the clutch system to make sure it works. Trouble is I'm struggling to get pressure to build up, now it, could be because my fluid is low so I will try topping it up tomorrow however I was...

Buying a new clutch but which brand?

Having to change my clutch and notice that there are various brands to choose from with varied prices. Two caught my eye, Valeo and AP Delphi, however AP Delphi is cheapest of all but do I compromise on build quality say thickness of clutch plate by going for the cheapest? Thought I'd ask the...

Hi, just replacing my clutch and when I took the rear prop off I noticed two things: 1 - The bolts on the drive shaft end were all loose (not tightened) 2 - When I got the prop off the bolts attached to the transfer box end were loose (wobbling) Anyone know why any of these might have been...

    Low range disappointingly jumpy

Had a P38 before and low range was smooth, I would have it in 1st and could happily accelerate and decelerate without a problem, however my current P38 DSE manual seems quite harsh when I decelerate or accelerate even when just tickling it. Any thought on why this is? I looked at a Discovery TD5...

    P38 only blowing hot air...

Since I got my P38 DSE it has only been blowing hot air out even when I change the temperature down to low. I seem to be able to sometimes get the left handside to go cooler but right hand side is always hot. I read somewhere that this might just be the airflow not mixing correctly so could be a...
