    Turbo Hoses -TDI200

A friend has a split in his TDI200 turbo hoses. He has bought a set of Silicone hoses to replace the damaged ones (you know these flashy blue things). Anyway there are only 3 pipes in the new Silicone kit and 4 pipes in the original configuration. I presume that the longer blue pipe is...

    Heater fan switch

This question is in parts: 1) My heater wouldn't pump out any heat, after jumping in the engine bay and physically moving the selector over on the heating box it workedm very well (serious heat)... until my fan stopped 5 minutes later. Has the sudden heat f**Ked something up or is the fan...

    Defender Vibration

with regards to vibration, as well as the prop shaft dent you should also jack up the car on it's axles and check the wheel bearings and swivel pin preload torque. to check the bearings - do this by grabbing hold of the wheels (when they're off the ground) and attempting to shake them. if...

    Soft clutch pedal

Cheers for all the input on this one - luckily for me it was only an air lock. I bled the system and everything has gone back to normal... so it was an airlock after all that.

    Soft clutch pedal

My clutch pedal has suddenly lost any resistance, normally depressing the clutch is a heavy task, now a small toddler could do it, its soft and has no resistance. I can change gear - although the bite point is approx 1mm off the floor but its difficult. No clutch fluid leaks or odd noises. I...

    Post Transmission brake roll

I have a Disco 1 1994 TDI 200, when I first got it the handbrake didn't really work (you had to pull it through the roof to make the transmission brake engage... and leave it in gear). I took the brake to pieces to find it was full of grease. I cleaned it up, shut it up and it worked...

    MOT check list

Well - I took my car in for MOT... bad news. I ran through the check list and made lots of fixes, however my tester was on a super thorough 'must kill the disco' mood. He spent 2 hours checking it, I thought he'd gone home!!! 2 hours - managed to find loads of little holes all over the place...

    Blue smoke on start up

CharlesY is right, it's not gonna be your EGR, get your car out of that garage pronto! I'd be suprised if you're not losing oil, if you get smoke on start there is definitely oil penetration. Get the car back from the garage and do a standard service 6000 mile service on it (filters, oil...

    off road mods..... opinions please

When I bought my first land rover I was told a wise piece of advise - get a second set of tyres with 265 (or 245 if you don't want any problems!!!) MT. I ignored this, bought a steering guard, a winch, 205 AT tyres and other protection. the result my car got stuck all the time because it was...

    Whinning On 300tdi

i'd agree with it being clutch bearing - changing is a bit of a pain in the arse. if you don't have a garage and the right tools and lifting kit it is probably easier to pay a garage to do it. but it could possibly last for a good while without causing any problems.

    200 tdi gearbox

interesting - 5th gear only. do you get any strange noises or catching in any other gears? does it do it in both low and high transfer ratio?

    New Disco 1 Owner!

yep disco's are great machines, great engines and drive but the bodywork and interior are like a feeble rover metro. keep seat covers on if you have the cloth interior! if you plan to off-road a lot get MT's, a spade and a winch (a 9000 will be spot on). disco's have poor ground clearance and...

    200tdi Console Lights

Pull one of the faulty buttons out, behind the button is the switching mechanism, pull the bulb out of it - plug a voltometer (in sound mode) across the bulb + & - connections, then switch the button on and off. The voltometer should sound when the switch is activated. Remember you need the...

    Disco Electrics...HELP!!!!

you should have a signal change 2-3 on press 1-3 on release - so I would go with a relay issue. or something even more stupid like i duff button linkage... i've seen that on loads of discovery's. have you switched batteries (remember you saying about the flat originally)? what sort of...

    Disco Electrics...HELP!!!!

I would think it is your wiper motor that has died... I know this because this also happened when my relay died. Open up the back door and pry off the rear door cover with a flat head screw driver and a 10mm socket wrench to undo the bolts on the handle (gently does it the cover breaks soo...
