Under load 3000 revs 14.86 does intially spike to 15v for a second then settles. Only spiked twice out of 6 seperate tests under load.

Update: Starter dud. New starter and starts fine. No alarm problem but still no red ignition light. Been stood for a long time so probably gremlins. When I finish the resto I'll get an auto electrician to give it the once over to finally sort it out.

Update: They checked all the basic electrical connections etc. Starter is dead. I've taken it off and waiting for new one. Will fit new and see if it starts. If no joy, they do know an alarm specialist who can fix the problem if it's an alarm problem. i.e. still no ignition light and no engine...
