Thanks for the swift replys Ive found a fuse blown which appears to be related to the lighting problem i have, however it should have been a 5a and its been replaced with a 10a at some point. (I was looking for the 5a ones lol). Im hoping the short happened when i pushed the new bulb holder...

    Lighting issue - im foxed.

Hello all Ive got a weird fault that i cant figure out on my electrics. Problem started with the rear offside tail light, the bulb blew and when i changed the bulb it showed up what i thought was an earth fault with the bulb holder. (The brake lights stayed on, and weird things happened when...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Passing the MOT with zero advisories. :high5: Owe the MOT tester a drink, he let me follow him round and sort minor bits whilst it was still in the test.

Steering box and drop arm removal nightmare

Halfords will not stock what you need, order what you need through a proper landrover parts dealer. I find its best to have every part ready just incase a worst case scenario crops up.

Would you trust a mobile welder from Gumtree?

You know you have rot issues when the patches repairing the rot, rot through!

Buying a Land rover Defender 90.. the pain.

I was dead lucky with mine, it genuinely did have LR FSH. All receipts, invoices etc. One of the previous owners even had a running total of repairs written on the back of one invoice. Over 4k just on maintenance! None of that stopped mine breaking down though!

    Lovely metallic grinding noise!

Another update! Got 1/2mile down the road and the noise returned! Jacked it up and the bearings had play in it so have tightened them up now and all seems good.

    Mot time!!!

I take the landy to a reputable local garage who specialise in 4x4s. Last MOT they did for me they did a few minor repairs foc. They then failed it on rust but hey ho. The missus focus on the other hand goes to "We only MOT" always gets a pass funnily enough!

    Lovely metallic grinding noise!

Shouldnt be, it had new disks and pads when i did the axle rebuild and ive only done about 4k miles on it if that. Im going to have to jack the corner up and pop the wheel off methinks

    Lovely metallic grinding noise!

I was hoping it was just the brake shield but i pulled over at tesco and bent it out and its still the same. Ive not had a chance to get right under with the wheel off yet so im hoping thats all it is. The bearings on the front axle are only about 18months old after i snapped a CV on the other...

    Lovely metallic grinding noise!

A few pointers please before i start to pull things apart! The chassis was replaced 2 weeks ago and all's been plain sailing since then until today! I reversed out the drive earlier and i heard a metallic grinding noise from the front. Once i moved forward it stopped making noise so i forgot...

    Headlight trouble

Head light has been rewired as the plug had corroded and the plastic melted which was where i though the problem was. Thats all insulated and tidy. This has been developing for a while which is why i suspect a cable has been rubbing somewhere and is shorting now. Suppose i should test the dip...

    Headlight trouble

ok quick update. Its not an earth fault as the full beam works ok. So im asuming i have a short on the live to the dipped beam. Thinking i might just chop into the loom and run a new wire. Lyndon - yes i have a multimeter.

    Headlight trouble

Oh the irony! I was searching defender headlight issues and found my old thread. Well its still the nearside thats the problem. Changed bulb and replaced the connectors into the bulb as they had corroded. Still no light. Checked fuses and the dipped beam fuse had blown (was also a 10a not a...
