V8 radiators with integrated oil coolers

My series conversion used to be a 200TDI conversion and I kept the 200TDI rad when I put the V8 in with the oil cooler hooked up via a remote filter. Seems to work ok but don't notice much difference even when trialing off road. Pipes were knocked up by Pirtec

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Having read through this thread I agree with Shippers in the earlier post - I think you're trying to over complicate the issue. I don't run a return on my 3.9 with SUs and Facet copy pump. If fuel is coming out of those vents then the fuel shutoff valve is not working or the float is stuck...

    Broken head bolt...Dammit!

I drilled the stud out on my Jag engine quite successfully but the threads were poo so I had to use a good quality helicoil kit. it would have been much easier if I had a good big drill press or mill as getting it straight was difficult freehand. When it happened to my mate, his local machine...

    SORTED! 3.5 efi fuel pump

So I don't know if this is any help but when I put the 3.9 EFI in the 88 I could never get to run right with an external pump. I used a Facet Redtop and then a pump from the Jag but it struggled to pull the fuel up our of the tank, especially if the level was a little low. I even put a small...

    14CUX and speed sensor question

Is not the best we to try and test it? Set it up the transducer with a revolving tube and see if you get similar signals - or is that just a 'try it see' solution. !! BTW I not used a speed transducer in any of my transplants either - never had a stalling problem

    disco 2 v8 overheating

Mine had the same problem and found it was the rad - completely full of gunk and stuff at the bottom. I had changed the thermo, tried a back flush ( which released a whole load of blueish stuff) and finally solved it with the rad change. BTW the new rad was nearly half the weight of the old...

    3.5 on SUs - lag

Toms820 - The Rolling Road apparently checked the fuel pressure and the feed from the tank and couldn't find a problem. It might be worth tanking the tank off though He's already changed the Dizzy, leads, plugs etc I'm gong to do two things - change the carbs for a know good pair (my SUs from...

    3.5 on SUs - lag

Ratae - good advice but it will kickdown normally - it's an older 3 speed so I will check the cable is properly adjusted Kev12 - it's out of a late LDV so could be high. I maybe thought the same so will have the manifold off anyway to change the valley gasket and do a little inspection Any...

    3.5 on SUs - lag

Bit of advice needed for a friends CCV truck that I'm trying to fix; The problem is: When on throttle (like a hill etc) it lags/loses power/won't rev. It's a 3.5 running on SUs with an autobox. I've had the carbs apart and serviced them with new parts where needed - when that didn't work he...

    Miss fire on disco 2

Beg to differ - my last V8 rebuild was on a Disco 2 and the back lobs were almost flat. I read somewhere it was due to the wider ribbing shielding the oil from splashing up????

    3.9 camshaft?

It's been a few years since I've rebuild a V8 but I have one to do over the winter Is the Kent 180/200 or Hurricane still the best for additional torque or has something else appeared recently I don't know of (3.9 is currently running carbs but will go Megasquirt on rebuild, manual gearbox...

    Miss fire on disco 2

As the coil packs are wasted spark, wouldn't the opposite plug be miss-firing too? The coil packs are a real pain to get at and change so I'd look elsewhere first. My D2 had a similar problem with a small exhaust blow, however I got a bit of hose to the ear and started poking around with the...

    4.0 V8

Later V8 Discos were Thor Motronic systems with the banana intake manifold. According to the book they were long nose cranks with a 60mm keyway

    Injectors wont fire help!!

It won't do your g/b much good. The bush holds the first motion shaft inline while the the clutch is in. Not having one might destroy some bearings over time.

    Injectors wont fire help!!

Have you checked the ECU and the continuity of the wiring? There is a few tests you can run by just using multimeter. I've attached a file that may be useful

Is it difficult to get conversion approved by DVLA?

Thats strange. My Series went from a 2.25 to a 19J to a 200Tdi and now a RV8-3.9. Each time I just completed the V5 with the new engine number and cc, sent it off and got a new one back with the new details on. No engineers report needed of any other info requested. I think it might depend...

    3.5 v8 twin su carb

Any small facet pump will run ok and you don't need to have it in the tank - they will suck fairly well. I went back to carbs on the 3.9 some time ago. Put a inline fuel filter before the pump and again before the carb just to be safe. The fuel pipe runs up and across the top of the bulkhead...

Do rover v8 carb setups use hif44's?

Not all HIF series have a choke built in as far as I remember so take care what you buy. My jag has HIF7s and it uses an separate AED (Aux enrichment device) as a choke. You'd be better with HS6 (or the metric HIF44 ) or if you can find them HS8s. The numbers refer to the number of 1/8ths...

    series V8 adapter

Well I'm running a 3.9 non serp with a defender LT77. Yes the rear prop is short and I had to create a cut-out in the gearbox cross member for the front prop but I haven't changed the front end at all. I use a 200tdi rad with an electric fan, took off the engine fan and cut the front of the...
