Because i have read a couple of times that the 24 spline axles are stronger then the 10 spline ones.

I have been offered a set of axles (f+r) off a 1996 disco 300tdi now i am thinking of getting them to fit to my 1992 200tdi defender so i have rear discs i have done a search and found out that the rear one fits but will the front axle fit so i have 24 spline diffs all round.

I live in Exmouth Devon and cannot find anywhere to go off roading the only place I can find is one at holden hill but it appears this is now closed. Does anyone know of any good off road sites?

I already have some wheels (285 75 R16) fitted and now need a lift kit so my axle can drop a bit more as when i go off road i keep going onto 3 wheels

I can get a brand new scorpion suspension kit which I assume is the same as the extreme 4x4 kit for a £1000 What I want to know is what is the kit like and is this good price for it. I know people will say get the Gwen Lewis kit but that is £1500 and I don’t want to spend that much of a lift kit.

I had the same problem with mine it was the connectors on the top of the fuel tank. I Just cut them off and put new ones on and that solved it.

Found the problem it turned out that the front of the chassis had been welded and had melted the loom that runs in the chassis for the rear lights and window heater
