Bad vibration that goes when in diff lock.

I have just recently had the same problem. The whole back end of the car vibrated. I took a look at the rear prop shaft and noticed the rubber donut was badly perished. After changing this, much to my horror, I still had the problem. My next task was to inspect the front shaft and I found that...

    Engine cutting out!

Well I find it difficult to come on here and admit to what a plonker I am. At long last I got to the bottom of my cutting out. It's one of the first things I should have checked. The flamin sedimentor. I had covered absolutely everything else and drawn blanks, an then the penny dropped. I...

    Engine cutting out!

Thanks for the great reply Mick, I am currently running the car and since I've done the things I've listed above, things seem to be good. The alarm isn't going off anymore and it's starting 1st time, instead of having to turn it over and over before it spluttered into life. Should I find things...

    Engine cutting out!

Thanks for the reply. I have decided to go through the same process. I don't believe the injection pump itself is my problem. When she is running, she runs beautifully. I started with the glow plug wires and found 3 of the 4 not tightened up properly. I've had the battery earth lead off and...

    Engine cutting out!

Stonesinboots thanks for the reply. That has made me feel slightly better about things would you believe. I couldn't understand why it runs beautifully even with the noise there. It's the cutting out that I'm stumped on. The noise, I can put up with as long as its not a sign of an imminent...

    Engine cutting out!

I have now had chance to check the earth strap on the battery and the leads to the glow plugs and the problem is still with me. I took the car to my local mechanic this morning and he says the crackling is definitely coming from inside the injection pump and that it is no doubt an electrical...

    Engine cutting out!

Thanks for the reply Paul. I will see if I can spot a problem on the glow plugs. The only thing that makes me doubt this is that, doesn't the power stop to the glow plugs once the engine has started? I'm hearing this crackling even after the engine is started, but in for a penny in for a pound...

    Engine cutting out!

Disco 1 300Tdi Auto 97 is periodically cutting out, just as if the ignition has been switched off. I then can't get it going again for what seems ages. I know this subject has been covered before and I have trawled the search facility and taken on board that it may be the spider that's at fault...

    Newbee's Electric fault

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/showthread.php?t=245665 Above is a link to a thread I subscribed to and amongst the info is another link to a thread I started that is headed 'iffy electrics'. Both these links cover problematic multi function units. It could well be worth looking at because I have...

    Partial electrical failure?

That's fine JMJH. Once you've plugged the cable into the unit, the unit just then plugs into the back of the fuse box. Tight, but very do-able. My biggest concern was that I disturb other wiring whilst trying to do it! Good luck with the garage.

    Partial electrical failure?

Yes Discool, I was quoted £221+vat from the Main Dealer here. However, I thought I would trawl Ebay for one and fortunately for me it has come up trumps. I took the precaution of buying 2 if them so that I had one spare should I find one of them was faulty. I hadn't realised how few of these...

    Partial electrical failure?

Yes I think there is a strong possibility that yours will also be cream, but fear not, when I went hunting for one, I actually found two of them and bought them both just in case I found the first one to arrive to be also faulty! I haven't received the second one yet, but if you find yourself...

    Partial electrical failure?

Well Dave I need someone like you around all the time, it would never have occurred to me to do something as simple as that. Well done that man!!:D

    Partial electrical failure?

Well it seems you were bang on with your diagnosis jayf12000. I received my replacement MFU this morning and couldn't believe I had decent weather 2 days on the trot to tackle this job. I found it very fiddly getting the unit back into the fuse box because of the limited space and the fact I...

    Partial electrical failure?

Thanks for the reply mate, I do have a cream coloured MFU and yes it was hard to find one, but heres hoping it works. If not I'll be back to you to see if you can point me in the right direction as far as relays go!

    Partial electrical failure?

Thanks for the reply mate, I had spotted these too, but what put me off was the fact they are in the US. I actually managed to track one down in the UK so went for that. Mine is indeed a cream coloured one and I was searching for quite a while before I turned it up. Obviously quite rare!

    Partial electrical failure?

I have at last had a chance this morning to have a go at this problem. Some fair weather and time off at the same time has helped. Anyway. I've managed to find and remove the MFU and also managed to track another one down. That is now on order so if I get to it before you get round to doing...

    Partial electrical failure?

I am having exactly the same problem! Here is a link to the thread I started a short time ago that other good folk contributed to : http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/iffy-electrics-241413.html As of yet I still haven't had the chance to follow up any of the suggestions because of either work...

    ABS kicking in

Thanks again Peter, yes I do have a copy of RAVE so will see what I can make of it! Also thanks sierrafery for the info. Unfortunately I'm not as agile as I used to be in my youth so may have to take it to the main dealer for Landrover up here to stand a chance of getting someone that knows...
