when i drive the car on snow where it hasnt got grip it drives fine ,but on main roads which are clear the shuddering starts again? any ideas please?

hi there , i had my landrover freelander in garage to replace ird unit ,i also had the centre bearings and the rear diff mountings done and new front prop, since i got the car back its gained a severe vibration or shudder when going over 30 mph the gear lever also moves(shudders) iv had it back...

is the ird price for a recon or new unit ??

How much do you think a job like this should roughly cost, assuming that reconditioned parts were being used, which i think is the case. Meaning a replacement IRD, VCU and labour. Cheers

that is what i assumed about the damper/VCU however when i asked him about the VCU he said he was happy to leave the VCU and test it when the drivetrain was reassembled, which then had me lost as i had also assumed the damper was the VCU but looks like it isnt :\

I have just taken my landrover freelander to a 4x4 specialist after a series of banging noises started coming from beneath the car. I posted the problem on this forum and was told it was a problem with the IRD. After the garage have taken a look he confirmed the IRD is the cause of the problem...

do i remove it directly from the ird ,and from the diff at the back and remove in 1 piece???

is it not unusual for this damage to happen on a 2006 ,it has about 69000 miles on it ,thanks paul.

would i be to remove this with guidance or would i have to go to garage , i would prefer it to keep it 4wd but if this is quick fix till after christmas ,il try it .thanks paul
