It's turning over just very sluggishly, if crank shaft had broke it would show on diagnostics, or engine light would be on on the dashboard I think. Not sure whether I should fork out on getting it towed to a garage only for them to tell me it's no good.

Thanks Hippo, as an update it's not the aux belt, it was the compressor belt that went which makes it all a bit stranger. Aux belt is still intact. Had a friend over with Snap-On ethos diagnostics that read no fault codes. Still can't get the bugger to start. Battery now dead so on a recharge...

I had similar issue, changed the drop links and knocking didn't go away. Changing the anti roll bar bushes sorted mine.
