Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Problem solved. It was caused by oxidation of the harness/wiring that connects the knock sensor to the ECU. That is why the scanner was showing P0327 code. I cleaned fuel injectors and changed fuel pump, VIS valves (they were stuck), fuel filter and knock sensor. Waste of money (except for the...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Thank you, Hippo. I agree it is a problem in the engine. And I also think it gets worse at high revs. I will follow your advice and get a good computer diagnosis, maybe at LR dealer.

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Hi Hippo and Andy, Finally I’ve done the videos. Now you will be able to see what is going on, despite the poor video quality. It is in full throttle during all the time recorded. The first video shows car acceleration on a plain road, no slope, to compare with Hippo’s video. It starts already...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Hippo, Actually it is not a steep hill. I checked the dictionary and found a word that may be better suited: slope. Trying to upgrade my English and fix the car at the same time:D I made this same question to myself. “Am I asking too much from this car?” As you said, the 2.5 V6 is...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Hi Andy, 50 mph, 2nd gear. The same problem can be noticed in 3rd gear, at higher speed. Never tried to put anything near 5,500 rpm in 4th gear. I also think the car is weak at mid revs, so I have to kick down frequently. But to be sure about this I would have to drive other FL in order to...

Low power at high revs - 2.5 V6

Hello, I have a 2006 Freelander 2.5 V6 auto with 57000 miles on the clock and I am experiencing an annoying problem. The car has low power at high revs, above 5000 rpm. So if I kick down going up a hill, the tachometer gets stuck at around 5500 rpm and I have to use manual shift to change gear...

    Rear diff

Hi gjudge, I didn’t know there were FLs without TC. I’ll take this in consideration when watching FL videos on Youtube. Maybe TC is better than I thought and the FLs that failed didn’t have this. Hippo, I totally agree that Freelanders (the ones with TC) don’t need difflock. TC is what we...

    Rear diff

Nice topic. You must consider that FL has traction control, so she can apply break pressure to the spinning wheel and redirect torque to the opposite wheel that has traction. It is less effective than a true diff lock, but helps a lot. From my own (very short) off-road experience with FL and...

    Worn front prop CV?

The symptoms you described are very similar to what occurred twice with my FL (2.5 V6 2006). The cause was inner CV joint failure. I agree that, if you have already replaced both driveshafts, it should not happen. But I would insist on the inner CV joint failure.

    Steering

ian11, I guess that at lower revs the steering pump pressure is too low. Then a smaller diameter pulley for the steering pump would make it run faster at any given engine speed, increasing the hydraulic pressure when idling. I foresee some problems if one tries this: 1. Serpentine belt...

    Steering

I agree. Freelander's steering is pretty heavy. Mine has 235/50 R18 tyres. Sometimes when I have to park the car in a very abrasive terrain, I put the gearbox on N position and press the gas pedal to increase revs. The steering then becomes silky. Of course changing gears to turn the steering...

3 Amigo brake light switch replacement Guide

Really great post. I followed your instructions and the lights were gone in my 2006 Freelander 2.5 V6! Never came back. Thanks.

    Increasing the Sport ride height.

Hi Harleydee, Have you fitted high profile tyres without making suspension adjustments? Aren't the new tyres rubbing the coils? I'd like to do the same, but I am worried a larger tyre will not fit. Ride height is not a big issue for me. I just would like to have a slightly higher profile tyre...

    Tyre choice

Hi all. Have you guys tried to replace the 235/50 R18 tyre of a Freelander 1 (2005 2.5 V6) with a higher sidewall tyre? Mine got a bubble when off-roading. A 235/60 R18 tyre would be more resistant to impact, but I am not sure it will fit the car. Any thoughts on this? Well, at the moment I am...
