It's a manual. Last nights test drive was a bit more illuminating... The rumbling/wobble is seriously bad when pressure is over on the left front wheel (turning right) and non-existent when turning left. Now I've felt it several times, I can feel it coming from the front left hand side.

Right, I've given the rear output shaft from the IRD and the input shaft to the rear diff a good shake in all directions... Neither of them appear ot have any play in any direction. I'm assuming this is a good sign...

Hi, did you get anywherewith this? My Freelander is still at the garage and they can't find the problem still (after 2 weeks!) I didn't book it in, so they're doing it in fits and starts (so I've been assured it's not going to cost me a lot in labour!) but it's starting to bug me badly...

Is it a speed related knocking? Might be constant velocity joint... mine went late last year and weren't too expensive to replace (I had all 4 done).
