    Engine Cutting Out

Car drives fine with air con on and all electrics. Problem is more noticable at night when parking etc as that is when engine cuts out. When sitting with enginge ticking over and moving steering from right to left, rev counter surges from about 500 to 1000 revs. With car stopped and A/C on...

    Engine Cutting Out

Just had head gasket replaced and a new fault has developed. When using power steering at tickover speed the revs drop and engine dies. Car drives fine with a/c, lights etc on but even when parked if pulling wheel from side to side the revs surge between 500 and 1000 if I keep wheel on full lock...

HDC failure after head gasket replaced

Had it back at the mechanic today to chech free play in throttle. He says there is free play there but does not know how much there should be. I am based in spain now and this garage is not the one (obviously) I have been using over the 5 years I have had the freelander. He asked me to try to...

    Landyzone Glossary

How about a thread that explains all the different abbreviations and technical terms used on the forum. If there is one already on the go, I couldn't find it using a search, and would appreciate a link to the thread. I just think that many people (me included) could use a bit of help...

    Time Difference

Dunno. Just know that if I'm on as a guest the time is GMT+1 Hour. When I'm logged in its GMT. Just a bit annoying when looking at times of posts and its not even that time yet.. Clock watching at work gets so bloody confusing.. This only happened after clocks changed end of October:confused:

    Time Difference

Can someone tell me why there is a one hour time difference on the forums when I am not logged in? As a guest the times are one hour ahead of gmt and true gmt when logged in as a member. Just curious!!!

    About to purchase a Freelander

The point I was TRYING to make is... Since there are far more 1.8s on the road (europes best selling 4x4 etc) the proportion of problems posted on here would suggest the TD4 has more problems than the 1.8. I didn't even get into what it would cost to have the biggest willy.. If Disco Paul is...

    About to purchase a Freelander

I think most people would agree that of all the models - the TD4 is the best bet. Said it before, the TD4 has more threads and more problems than the 1.8. Given that there are loads more 1.8s on the road than TD4s it looks like on average the TD4 has more going wrong, costs more in servicing...

Thanks for the info guys. Will get in touch with mechanic and tell him leak developed after service / replacing timing belt. The guy works for himself and is generally very good and doesn't have a mask on when giving you his account, so if its anything to do with his work I reckon he'll come...

    Oil Leak

Sorry for lack of info. 1.8 petrol on a 51 plate. I know I don't post as regular as some, but since I've been backing the good points (ironic or what) about the 1.8 for a while I didn't think I'd need to give all the info again. Just shows how much notice is taken of what you post.
