    A couple of questions

I always thought to use it as well but apparently it's gone out of fashion. I don't know if it's because components are different now.

    A couple of questions

I was doing new pads and discs last week, the grease only needs to go on the sides of the pads where they touch the calliper. Copper grease can damage the rubber or your pistons/ sliders etc.

Thank you, I feel a lot more confident going to look at this with a clear mind now. Better to buy with the head than the heart.

Disco 3 (LR3) Buyers guide inc video

I’m looking at one tomorrow, how do I identify the later oil pump cover? It’s a 2009 59 plate, should this have been fitted standard as it was the end of the run on this model? Cheers.

Do the replacement belts and tensioners come under servicing, ie should they be on the service history of an 8 year old D3 or this advice from experience?

What have you done to your Landie today.

Water pump (I think) help urgent

Ok everything is back together. No leaks, ran it up to temperature, everything is fine. To torque the pulleys back on I put the old tensioner and belt on, pushed it in the opposite direction so it was tight and the wheels couldn't spin, tightened everything up then released and replaced...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Removed dodgy water pump with a lot of help from the forum, had to buy some new tools for the job as well. I got a torque ratchet and viscous fan spanner. Pick up the new water pump and belt tensioner tomorrow morning then stick it all back together.

Water pump (I think) help urgent

Oh I searched and it seems new pumps have the allen key but the original pump doesn't and you're supposed to use a strap wrench which will be fun when trying to torque the nuts back on.

Steering pump, the water pump has been completely removed. I took both of those photos at the same time.

Water pump (I think) help urgent

Mine looks different the rest cleaned up ok though, should I go as far as polishing/ cleaning with a nylon brushing it with my dremel or is that overkill?

Water pump (I think) help urgent

ok I have everything off but I missed the post so I can't put it back together until tomorrow. Getting the pulley off the power steering was tricky, kept the belt on then with a breaker bar applied more pressure to it (old belt, old tensioner don't care). and got it off. Removed the viscous...

It's alright halfrauds have one for £12, need to go get that and a torque wrench anyway, reckon buying the tools will be less than having the mechanic do it anyway.
