    Got my synergy VP-L today

yep and it did make a slight improvement. I have decatted, removed the EGR and got the VP in. It does make a difference but I must admit its like putting lipstick on a pig compared to the differences i hear about for the TD4 mods

    L-Series hippo lovers please help!

If I get a chance ill look tomorrow but from memory if you turn the screw all the way to the end then 4 turns back in should be about right. Problem is ive adjusted mine so wont be as factory anyway.

Buying advice please - Freelander Diesel

I already have :) and I must say its an excellent piece of kit, realy gives DI a boost beyond what I was expecting. Fuel economy has improved as well. to add more power I have also adjusted the wastegate, decatted the exhaust, cleaned the MAF and blocked the EGR. has made a real difference to...

Buying advice please - Freelander Diesel

having recently bought a late DI ie 2000 model, while I like it, it is under powered and would defintely recommend holding out for a TD4. Your budget is right at the bottom of the TD4 range so you may well only get a first incarnaton high miler for that money. Do your research on the forum for...

    gearbox xdi model

As I said mine now is at close to 3000 at 70mph and is a different car to drive now that it has the proper gearbox in it. The only issue now is the fact that bloody reverse dont work, or at least keeps popping out with that awful grinding sound, so can reverse of sorts but not right. I dont...

    gearbox xdi model

Update on my gearbox. Installed new gearbox which I know defintely comes from a diesel. Needless to say rpm has dropped and now doing around 2700 to 2750 at 70mph rather than the 3500 I was reporting before. Its not all good news though, on the new one I ahve intermittent HDC egagement in...

    A lesson on patient 101

If you have read my thread about the XDI gearbox you wil note that I have been fretting about the revs at 70mph. so on gut and a bit of hearsay I went and bought a gearbox thinking it was a petrol gearbox on mine not a deisel, as mine had been replaced at some point in the past. Arrives on my...

    gearbox xdi model

Would normaly agree but the breaker I spoke I explained the problem and he was the one that said to me you had to be careful as they were both similar and assured me that what he was sending was a deisel box. AHHHHHHHHH calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean. Anyway I will look at the box as soon...

    gearbox xdi model

Right, what a waste of money that was. revs are exactly teh same with new gearbox as old. Ebay hear I come. A bit more reaserch tells me that the IRD ratios did change in 2001. coudl this be the mistery reason why some of us get 2700 revs and some get 3500 revs at 70 in 5th gear. anyone out...

    gearbox xdi model

Ahh, now really worried, just been doing some real hard searching and found a similar thread elsewhere with some owners of a 98XDi (similar to my 2000 XDI) reporting revs at 3000-3300 and reffering to the earlier IRD ?? really confused and already at teh garage getting a gearbox fitted dam...

Freelander XEDi EGR - To be removed or not to be removed?

Given the L Series engines other incarnations I did a bit of research on other rover forums. I found several ways of blankning of the EGR and the best way seemed to be by making your own blanking plate. I got an old pan as these are steel about 2mm and obviously heat tested :) and then cut the...
