My brother in law is arranging a line up of Land Rovers on the 9th September from 1pm at the Ingworth Trosh. He is trying to get a Land Rover from every year since 1948. If you would like to come along with your Land Rover he would love to see you. If not - then please could you print...

    Clicking sound

Thanks for all the good advice. Back and running just fine with a new drive belt fitted. Feel a bit of a wimp, but the work was done by our local garage Whatlington Garage on the A21 in Whatlington as I was travelling with work Tuesday / Wednesday. They ran my wife back home after she...

    Clicking sound

Had another look this morning and it is clear that the clicking sound is bits of the drive belt hitting on the top bolt. It looks like the belt is running out of the centre of the pulley wheels, and is hitting on the vanes of the small fan (right hand side as you look in the engine bay from the...

    Clicking sound

You are right - total bozo when it comes to things mechanical. If you see my earlier posting I was getting excited about fitting a cubby box...:)

    Clicking sound

Which sounds really bad? There is some damage to the belt, bits missing ad fraying.

    Clicking sound

HELP! A new noise today from my Defender90 (P - reg). Sounds like a clicking / slapping sound. Only happens when the engine is running. Worried that it might be something to do with the belt at the front of the engine which is looking frayed in places and there are bits of fluff comming off...

    Fuse blown

Thanks Taff - changed to the 60's straight after reading your post. Makes sense to me. Still not sure why they blew - but hope it was just down to the removal of the spider and the fact they were very old.

    Fuse blown

Just been and bought some more 60Amp fuses - but the 30's are still working fine? What should be there?

    Fuse blown

Both the 60 amp fuses under the bonnet on my 90 blew tonight! The effect was to stop the engine from starting on the key - to the point I actually thought it as the immobiliser which has been giving problems (but has now been fixed by the guys at Terrain in Hastings). The recovery guy...

    Middle Front seat mountings

Finally got it fitted. Seat holes were filled with Zinc screws and bolted on the underside. Inspection cover drilled and then the cubby stands on 4 plastic feet (supplied). Tricky to tighten the bolts on the underside, and the edge of the inspection cover means that I couldn't put a washer on...

    Middle Front seat mountings

Thanks for the suggestion Jim. Have had a look and that might work, however it would need to be a box section rather than a plate, as the box would be to low without a spacer of some description. If I don't do this, and drill new holes, what do you think about the old seat mounting holes...

    Middle Front seat mountings

Both options worked. The key was to remove to middle seat, and that gave access to the bolts underneath the body. There was a load of wires and stuff under the middle seat, which apparently is where a diagnostics tool can be plugged (?). Having removed the middle seat, then tried to fit the...

    Middle Front seat mountings

Thanks to both of you for these suggestions. Will give it a try later and let you know how I get on.

    Middle Front seat mountings

A nooobie post, and apologies if it is a bit basic. Trying to remove the centre seat from my 90SW to fit a cubby box. Everything I have read says that the seat bolts are fixed on the underside, and should just undo. Mine don't seem to be fixed so the bolts just twizzle around, never comming...
