    Bearings and diff rebuild

BRITPART...Aaarrrghhhhh...*runs out of the room screaming*:censored: If you value your Land Rover in any way, shape or form do not fit anything from them on your vehicle. AllMakes do seem pretty good, though do be certain you are not buying BP components by stealth from some online...

BRITPART - Another tale of woe

Good points and well made - however the garage in question, when I took the vehicle back to fit another cylinder at my own cost, (parts and labour) quoted me two solid days labour to do the job - I know the job of taking the box out is a bit of a nightmare but TWO DAYS takes the biscuit and then...

    Problems all ready

If you call known faults along the length of the Drive-train and the engine performing magic stop-start tricks not that bad; then no. Nothing to worry about at all.

BRITPART - Another tale of woe

Pull up a chair, I'm going to tell you a story... I decided, in my infinate wisdom, to buy a number of bits for my Freelander from an LR supplier and free-issue them to my local garage for fitting - the idea to save a little money and prevent said garage marking up the price of the parts. The...

New Radiator - About Time by The Looks of The Old One!

It sounds like an epic fight you had there; bravo for persevering though...if it were me I would have given up after the shouting at it phase and taken it to the garage!

Do you regret buying a Freelander?

No I don't regret buying a Freelander - in fact I will probably own one for as long as they are in production in one form or another. I do think I should have purchased a Tiptronic Auto instead of a Manual; but this can be corrected at my next purchase...hopefully in a couple/few (of)...

What is this supposed to do?

If my Freelander is anything to go by it will be the random fault generator...by pressing any button your not sure what purpose it serves will select a fault at random to irritate you. Could be that the single wipe function stops working or that the biting point of the clutch changes without...

    Rear Drive Shaft 'Flinger'

..As there has been a resounding silence on this question; I attach the page from RAVE. The component my question concerns is number 9 on the diagram. Any guesses...pretty please?

    Rear Drive Shaft 'Flinger'

Dear all, Does anyone have any idea what the part number is, or wher I can find, a rear driveshaft 'Flinger' (inner shaft oil seal which sits on the shaft)? I have bought a pair of rear driveshafts for my FL1 51 ES and one them is missing...and I'm damned if I can find one anywhere

What MPG do you get from your Flander

On a recent journey into the North (170 miles each way on A Roads/Motorways - mostly around 60mph) and a bit of local driving..My Freelander achieved a mammoth 43mpg.. ..and that's with the back of the car vibrating like Silvio Berlusconi's headboard during an all girls house party!

    What are these?

That would be a nudge bar old chap - Land Rover Part number STC50413 - made from hardened resin/foam material I believe. Looks rather dapper I might add.

    Rear Diff life expectancy ???

If the IRD has/is failed/failing then it is likely that the additional stresses have been passed down the drive train through the VCU to the Rear Diff. Good practice and (if intended) logevity of ownership suggests that replacing the VCU and rear diff could be a jolly good idea - all be it an...

    anyone know about laws please

From what I recall about the Construction and Use of Motor Vehicles act (vague and distant memories that they are) I don't recall anything specific relating to your run-in with the Rozzers; personally I would suggest that the Constable in question may have been having a 'quiet day' and perhaps...

    Buying a freelander

Unfortunately there are no hard or fast rules for which model is the best, which year, the mileage etc. Sometimes you can pick up a 1999 1.8 k series XEi and get an absolute gem; likewise you can buy a 55 plate Td4 HSE and get an absolute shed. Take it from one whom has learned the...

    Rear Drive Shaft Replacement

Thanks for the reply but all three mounts and the diff (and VCU) were replaced only three months ago...if they have gone for a burton so soon there could be some stiff words had with the garage..

    Rear Drive Shaft Replacement

I took the 'ole girl' on a journey into the North this weekend. Sadly on the return leg she was vibrating like a specialist Amsterdam mattress from the underside for most of time between 60-70mph. Having pulled into the services to have a look at the rear diff/drive shafts and check for...

    Rear Drive Shaft Replacement

I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to get my NSR Drive Shaft replaced (quite a bit of movement back and forth away from the wheel). The question is; should one replace them in pairs as good practice or save the extra money for the next 'design feature' to go wrong...thoughts?
