so is replacing the water pump a bit tricky? any step by steps on here? mine has a sort of intermittent squeeking when accelerating sometimes...dont think its the belt because of the sound of the squeek...so i'm thinking it must be water pump...

cleaned out my intercooler last week, used white spirits, half filled it, bunged it, left for half hr....shook it like mad..emptied it...was black as fook, repeated until clear....jet washed (from a bit of distance) outside of it, dried out, refitted...can notice the difference straight away...

mine did the same, had to welly it a little to get the blower to blow warm, otherwise was cold...when it got worse, needle ended up in the red, turned out to be blocked pipes (and y peice from expansion tank....flushed all cooling system, all ok now...

does your temp needle stay in the middle or go near red? only asking coz had a similar problem with mine, (95 tdi) turned out to be blocked pipes from coolant expansion tank. have you flushed your cooling system?....hope this helps

just sorted my overheating problem out today..:) turned out to be the "Y" piece plastic thing, and narrow hose to top of thermostat was completely blocked!!, couldnt blow thru the hose so when i squeezed it, looked like dog ****e coming out, ha...finally cleared the hose, unblocked the "Y" piece...

thanks for the replies , will check out the bias plate firstly then (sounds easier and cheaper :) ) if it's not that, will look into getting the gearbox stripped....thanks again ..will post an update later

i have a similar problem, 4th gear is a t**t sometimes, not too bad going from 3rd to 4th, when gearing down from 5th to 4th, have to really bash it to get in 4th, checked cluth fluid, all ok........anyone else have this problem? mines a 300tdi disco, 1995.......sort of found an alternative...
