drill and tap the centre of it using a left hnd thread tap,screw in a left hand set screw bolt and it may unscrew on its original thread. Prob best to spray it with wd a few times and best if engine hot when you go for the unscrew. alternatively a similar approach would be a stud extractor.

Cheers Hippo, Unfortunately thats not the same switch that i've got that he's changing, think i've got the very first on. It only has 2 spade connectors onto it and no intermediate plug, my wiring comes from switch straight into loom.

that dont sound good, i've heard that viscuous coupling can cause this and maybe that needs checked to ensure it is slipping and driving when it should. sounds like when its warming up you're getting the problem so it could be related? plenty info on checking coupling on here, its worth checking...

replaced master and slave sealed units system, took 25 minutes ish. 58 quid from the bay of flea delivered. all gears no problem and no crunch into reverse at all as yet. seems this was the problem. i await the next cos it will come!
