Sorry I've sort of hijacked this thread with Jeep talk. Does anyone know the lanes around Whittlesey? There seems to be loads of them and I'd like to give them a try but don't think it's a good idea going on my own!

Next time you are all out on some nice easy lanes (I'm still new to this...) can I join you in a Jeep... or is that classed as swearing round here?!

As far as I was aware you just have to ring the council and ask them if it's a public right of way, and if it has a TRO on it. I'm afraid my technical knowledge of cars is non-existent! My only experience of gunk in the cap was a blown head gasket :-( but I think there are other things like it...

I have an X-Trail- so ground clearance and underbody protection are my issues- can't afford any expensive repairs! I live in Eye. Do you know some of the local lanes quite well then?

Hi, I'm totally new to laning as well and I'm after finding some easy lanes as well- I've never been. I think the best place to find out where they are is OS Explore but if you're new to it (as I am), its also best to ring up the local authority to check that the lanes are still open for...

It't not really the plastic bits I'm worried about. It's more that I have no underbody protection at all for any of my other delicate bits. And no... I can't find any metal bits anywhere!

It looks like there's a fairly long lane from Crowland* to Peakirk? Anyone know of it? Been along it recently?
