hi guys, this should be a simple question. I have a front prop spacer fitted to my Defender Td5, does what it should, it is fitted to the diff end of the prop. Is there an accepted right end to fit it to? Or does it really matter? Your thoughts please.

I had the same issue on my 300 tdi, Eventually fitted a nice set of VDO gauges, Volt meter in place of the clock, Temp (with the right sensor) much better than standard. Fuel gauge worked perfectly, although backwards! Fill up at the pump, gauge reads empty, keep driving, and back to the pump...

Look at the rear suspension bushes etc. similar problem on mine a while ago, easily fixed, as one of the 27mm? nuts on the rear links had not been tightened after doing some work. wound it up about 3 turns, brakes straight now!

On assumption the your mechanic is allowing for a head skim, and all other assiciated parts to do the job properly, I reckon £800 is a fair price. Will depend on bent valves, pushrods, etc. If he is pricing it up with genuine parts, wont take long to add up. With valves, pushrods, skim, gaskets...

Doubt if it will help, but my 90 is on a 2" lift, with 285 Insa Turbo's and it measures 610mm to the underside of the sills.

Seldom ever hear any noise, valves only hit the piston once, then its all over! However, it might be turning over quicker than usual on the starter, not definite, but possible. Easy way to check is to pop off the oil filler cap, get someone to crank it over, see if camshaft is moving. if it...

The one on the top controls the heat,make sure it is fully extended,(as far as it will go towards the N/S wing) to set it to hot. (lukewarm!) Hope this helps.
