    L322 suspension problem.

There was a problem before the bag burst - as outlined in first post. Following some work with a Launch the rears were permanently up very high. This possibly caused bag to burst.

    L322 suspension problem.

Just to update . One of the rear airbags burst and has been replaced. However the rear of the vehicle is now very high and will not come down. Is anyone here familiar with the Foxwell 520 Pro - is it able to recalibrate the air suspension. Have been reading anything we can find - but cannot find...

    L322 suspension problem.

Thanks for replies. We have been repairing/maintaining our own vehicles for many years but never got into diagnostics. We have a few friends in the trade who would help out with scanners etc when needed. However there is very little help available when it comes to the Range Rover - they are...

    L322 suspension problem.

My brother has a 2004 RR 3.0L dsl auto and is having a suspension problem. The front can go very high and the rear low and then the opposite happens.A local garage offered to attempt to sort it (or at least find the problem) using a Launch scanner. No luck - and problem got worse if anything.The...

    L322 Range Rover transmission problem

My brother has a 2004 RR 3L dsl with about 145K mls on the clock. All was well until 2 days ago. While driving home he noticed the rev counter was climbing but speed staying the same. Eventually he had no drive. By switching off and restarting he made it home - getting about half a mile from...

    Loosing Coolant

Two possibilities ( I've experienced both ) for a leak at the bellhousing end are : 1) oil cooler and 2) a plug in the head inside the exhaust manifold . When I took off the oil cooler the gasket had practically worn away in one section - new gasket sorted it . The plug inside the exhaust...

I need help! (with my SRS light)

The SRS light came on in my brothers 1996 300Tdi following the fitting of a phone kit about a year ago. Having read up on it I decided going to the dealer was the only option - the light will not go off even when the fault is rectified witout plugging it in . They said it would cost €50 which I...

    high miles on disco 2

I sold my D2 recently with 227 K on the clock - having bought it a few years ago with 166 K done . It was still running/driving as well as ever and everything still worked - but the cost of road tax over here meant it had to go . As pointed out the way the Disco has been maintained is crucial -...

    Rear brake caliper

I renewed seals and pistons in a 98 Disco I and all worked fine . But if I could get new calipers for the price mentioned I would go for that option again because it took a lot of time :(- and if one piston is badly jammed , even if you eventually free it the caliper might be damaged . I live in...

Unbelievable! The day of the MOT and....

When the steering box on my 96 300 Tdi started leaking I went to the local main dlr to enquire about seal kit . The parts man advised me it would only be a short term cure - 6 months at the outside. Apparently they had encountered problems after fitting the seals in the workshop . Any wear on...

    300Tdi Sump replacement

Jack up the Disco - then put axle stands etc under chassis rails so the front axle hangs down . Plenty of access to sump then . No gasket available - use some kind of RTV sealant and leave to cure for the full time recommended

    Brake caliper problems...

As james said you can carefully push the pistons out using the brake pedal - a bit of wood ( of suitable thickness ) etc placed between disc and piston will stop the piston coming out altogether. You may find the ends of the pistons quite corroded - when cleaned up the piston should not be...

Disco II Leaking sunroof - possible solution

I repaired my 2 sunroofs ( 2001 Td5) about 2 yrs ago . First I read many posts and the general consensus was that : (a) blocked drain pipes not a very common problem ; (b) seal under glass often blamed in the wrong; (c) worst cause of leaks was failure of the seal between sunroof frame and...

    hard break pedal

As the biglad says if servo is not helping pedal feels rock solid and no stopping power . Can be scary on a car but the added weight of the Disco would make it almost impossible to stop . One check for servo is to (a) with engine off press pedal a few times to discharge servo ; (b) then...

    Clutch problem

Presume its a Disco 1 ? If clutch pedal has gone ' solid' - that is it won't go down then I think the problem is the clutch fork ; the pivot has gone through it - a common failure . Gearbox out to sort it .

    Sick 300tdi

If it got roasted the pistons and rings may have suffered - have seen rings lose their 'tension' as I call it so they no longer push out against cylinder walls . I put a new head on a friends 300 Tdi 2 yrs ago but I also fitted a new set of rings - Disco had 136K up at the time so I figured the...

What mileage is your Disco 2 on?

Bought mine (2001 Td5 ) with 166K on the clock . Now has 226K on the clock . Just replaced the gearbox - Disco now dor sale . Road tax over here is crazy - Disco now costs over €900 a year to tax . If you do it quarterly , as many do , it will cost over €1,000.

    Oil leak, again

Cam cover leak quite common - cam cover gasket tricky enough to fit properly . At the back of the cam cover there is a semi circular part of the gasket which can be a problem to get right - space is a bit limited and the part sticking down may fail to seat properly .

Flat Battery - Can't jump start as alarm and immobiliser activate

If you have light jump leads just connect them up and leave your mum's car running . Don't attempt to start the Discovery for about 10 mins or so - give the car time to put some current into the battery . Has worked for me many times with various vehicles
