Just got mine back from the garage I bought it from, they sent it for a new starter motor and it was apparently a real pain in the arse to remove the old starter. I'm guessing it's one of them jobs that would have been a nightmare for me to do so I'm glad it was replaced under warranty ;)

They are never in there for too long, dogs should never be kept in hot cars full stop. With the rear window cracked there is a good flow of air though. The recent case of the police dog being kept in a hot van was appalling.

Thanks once again for all your input To be fair I think I'll just get a rubber mat for the main boot area, although this will be mainly protected by the dog box. For the tail gate I think I'll find some thin(ish) plastic and as suggested put some velcro on the back of it to hold it in place...

Thanks for the positive replies, this sounds just like what I had in mind Guy. I've a custom made dog box from gamehawker to fit my old freelander that I'm going to put into my new P38 to put the dirty dogs in it was just the tailgate that needed protecting. I'll ask at the garage about them...

Just wondering if there is such a thing as a protector for the tailgate? I'm thinking of something to stop the carpet getting mud and grime on when the dogs are jumping up into the back?
