Yes it seems strange that the two exist, I wonder if the 2.25 is non original, its only got 35K on the clock having been parked since 1987. The rest of it is in very good mechanical condition suggesting the mileage could be correct. The block has '49' stencilled in white on the side of it, my...

Costs of blasting and galvanising bulkheads

I'm in the process of getting my bulkhead repaired and was very pleasantly surprised at the costs involved. Blasting has cost me all of £25 and I've been quoted around £90 to galvanise. I'll post what the actual cost was when it's done. The cost of welding in new footwells to a good standard and...

    s3 petrol speeds

For those who need a spot of molyslip to quieten the overdrive a bit I can recommend Drake Tooling and Abrasives Ltd, I ordered it at 12:00 yesterday and it arrived by 13:00 today! Cheaper than anyone else on the web even with delivery! I've no connection with this company, just like to reward...

    Swapping from petrol to diesel

I did the 200tdi conversion and was very happy with it... you can get away without preheater on 200tdi, mine was never wired in. Look up glencoyne on the web for some tips. Basically you need.. radiator, intercooler and frame, plan to move battery to under passenger seat. You will need to change...

Sourcing Plastic 'locknuts' (little plastic clips screws locate into) a series

I've just had my dash panels powdercoated as my yellow peril begins a slow post accident rebuild. It seems I will need some more of the tiny plastic locaters that the self tappers screw into (ie the ones that secure the vent lever mounts) I can't seem to find any on the web.. any suggestions...

I bought a chassis from them via ebay, feedback seemed OK and it wasn't under this name. Paid a deposit and still waiting, it's nearly 200miles so don't want to make a trip in vain.. I've just found this on the web..Police call for car conman victims to come forward | This is Gloucestershire

    Land Rover Cylinder Head Conversion

Hi Davecoaches, Mine was also on overdrive. Google search 'simonbbc' for ignition. I'm not sure the exhaust made any difference, I only used it cos it was stainless. The motor passed away when I changed the cylinder head and it was very slightly warped... It now has a 200tdi, just shy...

    Land Rover Cylinder Head Conversion

I've had just shy of 23mpg out of mine. It had electronic ignition & new coil, 'performance exhaust' weber carb, kenlowe fan and was on mud tyres. This was at a steady 56mph most of the time on the A1. With road tyres I'm sure it could have been better. My ignition was from 'simonbbc' and I was...

I've never seen Irwin bolt grips before, thanks for the tip. I've used the aston super wrenches successfully on similar situations but no good if you can only get at them with a socket!
