    P38A LPG reducer position query

Mine's in the same place on my GEMS. I'm about to replace it though as it's leaking into the cooling system.

TDV8 - stalled, 2xnew turbo fitted, engine siezed immediately in garage, my bad luck apparantly

Well a similar thing has just happened to me. My not so local any more specialist had my P38 for 9 months to cure a problem that they caused in the first place and £600 later, I've got it back with no fix. They've basically washed their hands of it.

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

Maybe I'll try it on my phone then. Just though a tablet would be easier.

    Thanks Grr. I'll try it.

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I suppose I should have expected that! There seems to be a large number of free ODBII reader apps available - I was just hoping someone might be able to recommend one of them that might help me in this scenario... I need it to work with a Bluetooth code reader. I'll even pay for one if it's...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I imagine the O2 connections ought to be ok, but have no idea about the rest - I've had trouble in the past with oil on a connector to the transmission which caused interesting random behavior. Hmm. The problems all started on the way home from the same garage 2 years ago after they replaced the...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

Interesting comments about the O2 sensors. The cats were replaced with 2nd hand items and new O2 sensors fitted. This is when all of the trouble started. The garage (same one that its just been on an extended holiday to) seemed to have a lot of trouble finding the correct sensors so I guess it...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I didn't realize they worked on the P38. I have a cheap one that I bought for my BMW - I might try that when I get a mo. Not that I know what I'm looking at really, but I'll have a play.

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

Thanks for that but I don't have any means of doing that. It's very borderline whether this goes on the bay now, so I'm not going to be able to justify spending much more on it. I'm sure that it's a petrol supply problem but I don't know how to confirm it. I expected the garage to have at least...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

Got the Rangey back on Saturday. That was a mission. We were in a rush as had a family do we had to be at by 12. Almost at the garage and hit a massive stationary traffic queue to some event that clearly wasn’t being well managed in the pouring rain. After about 30 mins, we managed to get...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I did do some myself on an old Rover P6 many years ago but certainly don't have the time to do them myself now. I'd be more than happy to pay £500, but not £1500. Where's your indie...? :) The thing is that I really don't believe that this is the cause of the misfire. I'm not really sure that I...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

Just had another 'discussion' with the receptionist who has quoted me £1500 to do the head gasket, despite not being able to give me any assurance that this is actually the cause of the intermittent misfire. She can't tell me what diagnostics have been performed or whether it is even still...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I seem to remember him saying they were oem as he struggled bit to find ones with the correct connectors. Wondering if I should just cut my losses and bring it home, but I'm not really geared up for major work at my current house as the drive is too small.

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

That's interesting. Thanks Saint. I assumed it just looked for hydrocarbons. I'm still not convinced that is the problem though, after all the fault began as soon as the cats and O2 sensors were replaced a year and a half ago. Pretty unimpressed at a bill for £550 that hasn't actually fixed...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

No idea as I only spoke to the receptionist. I'm guessing he finally did a sniff test which I assume it would fail because the lpg vapouriser diaphragm has split so gas has leaked into the coolant. I don't believe a head gasket has gone. The misfire is completely random too. I'm assuming that...

    P38A Misfires and Diagnostics?

I was beginning to think the garage had lost my number but they've just rung me to tell me it's ready. The poor receptionist didn't know anything about what had been done though other than to tell me that after 7 months, £550, a set of unneeded HT leads and coil packs later, they've concluded...

im back in the 38 click

Mine has only ever worked for about an hour after Kwik Fit recharged it. I probably ought to replace the condenser one day.
