Main beam lower than dipped beam, 2004 Td5 Disco

Thanks Gordy, Brian. I have two unused headlamp bulbs, I'll put them in on the faulty side and see if anything changes. I didn't realise the adjusters only move the dipped beam reflectors but it makes sense now I think about it. My only other thought was whether the headlight height adjustment...

Main beam lower than dipped beam, 2004 Td5 Disco

Hi folks, Was driving along last night with darkness coming a bit earlier now and turned on my headlights. These are the later Disco Td5 (2004) lights with two reflectors each side for main and dipped beams. On main beam the nearside beam was aimed down onto the road nearer to the vehicle than...

    Heater fan on full only

Hi again, I Googled "Land Rover Discovery condensor fan" and found a US owner who had discovered that it is a common fan used on many makes of vehicle, not just Land Rovers. You may be able to find a working used one if you search around.

    Heater fan on full only

Hi, yes, the circuit board with the four contacts sticking upwards has to be unsoldered from the three pins that can be seen across the wider end of the circuit board, these three pins are the legs of the MOSFET. Once the solder has been drawn off the three pins and that end of the circuit board...

    Heater fan on full only

Hi Guys, I've attached a not so good picture off my scanner of my failed unit. It shows the heatsink with the flat-black MOSFET that is held down by a screw and the normally attached circuit board beside it. The component sticking out from the circuit board is a thermal fuse that was held...

    Heater fan on full only

I agree with you about the likelihood it's just a superceded part number. The part number on my unit is "2SK2313". Two years ago I could only buy them by the thousand from a place in Japan, it's a Toshiba MOSFET. I just looked on ebay and now they are available for next to nothing so I'll be...

    Heater fan on full only

Hi Sierrafery, I agree but the flatpack MOSFET in the later unit that is in my Disco wasn't available when I looked two years ago, I still have the failed unit with the intention of making a spare when I find the part to fit. I think that the transistor you show is for the unit up until...

    Heater fan on full only

Hi James, The symptoms on mine were that the fan would only stop or blow at full speed. After I plugged in the replacement unit it worked fine and has ever since. The screws were not the easiest to get in and out, I bought a cheap set of very long screwdrivers, 12inch long blades, from a...

    water in my footwell

Do you know it is coming down the bulkhead? I had water in my footwell but it was running down the inside of the A-pillar and into the footwell via a cable hole behind the footwell trim. The actual leak was where the roof meets the A-pillar.

    Sunroof drain tube exit point

Thanks Sonny, I was about to do exactly the same as you when I decided to dig around in the mud at the back of the pillar and there it was, water shot up my sleeve as I cleared the mud away! Until then I had been draining the A-pillar regularly by removing the lowest door hinge bolt. My...

    Sunroof drain tube exit point

Hi Sonny, Just seen your message. On earlier Td5 and older Discos the drain tube for the A-pillar was at the bottom of the pillar where you could see it, just below the hinges, just as it starts to slope inwards below the sill. On later Td5s like mine it is not visible unless you crawl...

    Disco 300tdi, 1997, c-post outer trim

Alexdon, Somehow your reply arrived after I had posted my own even though you sent it earlier, time warp at the Scottish border obviously. Thanks for your reply, that'll be a bit of fun for a wet afternoon then. The corrosion is spreading beneath the trim so it'll have to come off.

    Disco 300tdi, 1997, c-post outer trim

In case anyone finds my question here is the answer. First, it seems the pillar behind the rear side door (where it latches) is not the C-post as I called it but the D-post. In Land Rover catalogues the pillar where the front door has its catch and the rear-side door has its hinge is the BC...

    Disco 300tdi, 1997, c-post outer trim

Hi folks, 1997, 300tdi Disco, 5-door. If this has been covered I apologise but I didn't find it. We need to remove the plastic trim (finisher) on the outside of the C-post to get at corrosion. On other sites I've seen one guy say prise them off and another say remove the inner trim and unbolt...

Thanks Motom, I'd been looking too and seen others online asking so when I found out I thought I'd post it. Glad to have helped.

    Very quiet humm from compressor

    >>leak is through the oil seal from the axle casing<< I had a feeling that might be how it is, thanks, that's one for when our Landie mad son is here to give me a hand.

    Very quiet humm from compressor

Ahh, the valves are commanded directly by the ECU, OK, so fuse and relay out leaves them alive. I think I'm confusing you, and myself (confusing me is not hard to do!!). The loud sound you hear when we pull up and can be started and stopped by opening and closing the doors is what i would...

    Very quiet humm from compressor

Thanks Sierrafery, I'll work through that but in the meantime I disconnected the SLS Fuse and pulled out the relay, the very quiet sound is still coming from the compressor. Without a stethoscope I can't say where from. Thinking in terms of air instead of electricity, could this be a leaky...
