So driving along normally, under acceleration there wasa kind of "fffert" noise then lost all power and won't restart.
Got recovered home and upon further investigation found a hole in the rocker cover! See the photo attached.

Hi everyone, its been a while since I've been on LandyZone and its a pretty sad reason for coming back. I'm looking to sell my P38 after 7 glorious years of ownership. It's a pretty special car, here are the details...
The car is moving to Shropshire as of 19/03/2016.
£4200 - Black 2001 4.6...
the engine runs fine on petrol except for slight knobblyness when idling.
on gas its pretty much useless(but never stalls)
after much trawling the forum i decided to have a look at the MAF.
with the faultmate plugged in the reading is around 40 idling, 130 @ 3000 neutral and over 330...
So now i'd be worried if there was nothing wrong with my p38.
after cleaning the MAF sensor the volume on the radio isn't working properly...
I can here sound but its very quiet and the volume controls (on steering wheel as well) don't work.

So after replacing the engine(thanks to my bro for the car port and help!!!) with nice new RPI one (and realising we forgot to connect the idle air control valve and the throttle position sensor) the thing wasn't ticking over very well.
Idling was very rough and it struggled a lot when on...
they will need refurbishing(new seals) but if you want to pick them up from south woodford (london) you can have them for free.
oh yeah sorry, for a P38
i'm in east london (south woodford) and need that special spanner to get the fan off.
the water pump bearing died and i had to get a piggyback all the way from shropshire.:(
i know its a long shot but if anyone can help (preferably before the weekend) they shall be rewarded accordingly...

I've got a 2001 p38 and the 4.6 v8 is using nearly as much oil as fuel! :confused:
Strange thing is, there doesn't seem to be any clues as to where the oil is going. No smoke (ever!) and no significant leaks (according to land rover themselves and the driveway).
There's about 75k on...
