Somethings leaking on my 2004 TD4

We did a test with the dipstick out, revved up to 3000 and no oil coming out. It could well be a hose but I'm going to replace the crankcase filter anyway as I don't think its been done for at least three years.

Somethings leaking on my 2004 TD4

Car was last serviced only a few months back but it was only a basic service. What causes this problem?

Somethings leaking on my 2004 TD4

No loss of power but I'm getting the smell of diesel coming from under the bonnet. I had a look and this is what I see. It seems to be coming from that wire connected to the big hose there. Any ideas?

Looks like I need to update the profile, no longer in Bahrain since last year!

Mondo Mode, told insurers and waiting, waiting..

Admiral called back and said my insurance is still OK while they wait to hear from another department who need this form filled in which included details of where I had it done and who did it??? I mean, its just a freaking propshaft, I could do myself if I wanted to. I can't cross this off my...

Mondo Mode, told insurers and waiting, waiting..

Still waiting... you'd think they'd come across this before or maybe they haven't! I've noticed a few threads about this subject and they all say they notified their insurers. What they don't say is if their premiums went up or if their insurance was invalidated completely

Mondo Mode, told insurers and waiting, waiting..

Same reasons here, waiting for new VCU. Now wondering if I have opened can of worms just for 2 months. Yes, driving characteristics are different, I prefer 4wd

Mondo Mode, told insurers and waiting, waiting..

I've been a good girl and told my insurer that my hippo is now in mondo mode (i have my reasons). I thought it would be a simple phone call but am now awaiting a call back after 2 hours so far as they don't seem to be able to get their heads round it and have had to refer it to 'scrutiny'...

    Freelie debadged by vandals.

Some ****head decided to pull the 'L' off the bonnet of my 2004 Freelie last night, there's been some Saturday night vandalism lately including wing mirror smashing. I had a look round but it seems that the **** took it with them. And idea what decal I should be looking for, its standard...

Shopping for a Freelander, advice welcome!

Pre-emptive servicing! the kind of guy I'd like to buy a car from, you're not selling, are you? I think Freelanders have to be treated with care, serviced regularly and it pays to know what goes on under the bonnet of these babies. If you do that, you'll be rewarded with happy driving.

Shopping for a Freelander, advice welcome!

I wouldn't say no to a Freelander 2 but I would have to get finance for it wheras right now I want to buy a car cash and be done with it for a while. Surely not all Freelander 1 owners are unhappy with their cars, I was very happy with my V6 facelift in Bahrain but had sell it as was no point...

Shopping for a Freelander, advice welcome!

Hi, Having left Bahrain because of the dire political situation and now Disco and Freelander sold out there (for peanuts :-(, I now have the cash to buy a TD4 Freelander here in the UK. I'm after a 3 door auto, SE spec or above, age not too much of an issue as long as the mileage matches age...

    D2 High speed booming noise

So with the UJs fixed on my D2, I'm left with the problem of a deep booming noise that seems to come from the rear of the vehicle at high speed (70-100 mph). At lower speeds it just seems that I'm getting more road noise than I should, but as I speed up the loud road noise becomes the boom...

Thanks for UJ advice, problem solved

Thanks everyone for advice on overhauling the propshafts on my 2002 Disco II. The vibes/shudder problem was half solved when I replaced all four cross pieces, then three quarters solved when I replaced the doughnut. But it wasn't 100% solved until I changed the locator bearing in the double...

    Donut/vibration woes

Dear All: I've still got vibration problems on my D2. I got the cross joints changed on the UJs, and this improved things a bit, but really the vibes are still there and I'm not happy driving it like that. The sharfts themselves look straight, su suspicion falls on: The rubber GNK "donut"...

    Help: D2 V8 Noises

Cheers, David, that was a really informative link. I think I'll get both of my propshafts rebuilt with new UJs all round, and bearing if I can get it. Plus donut. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Help: D2 V8 Noises

Thanks, Mad Hat; the D2 props do appear to be rebuildable. A local garage has cheap pattern parts for a D2 propshaft, but I'm wondering whether to use these cheapo bits or source better (greasable?) ones from the UK. The shafts themselves seem to be in good nick, no bends or dents, so the...

    Help: D2 V8 Noises

Thanks, Mad Hat: is it likely to be just the UJs that need changing, rather that the whole prop? I'd have thought it was just the UJs, a 100k mile maintainace issue: the propshaft itself would only be buggered if it got a major whack off-roading, and my D2's off-road use is pretty mild. Am I...
