    Freelander TD4 Lack Of Power

Hi Landyheadache, With a symptom of low power it's very hard to diagnose over a few lines of text. As you're not an avid DIY repair person, you'll need a garage you can trust. Sometimes, it's straight forward fix, other times they'll need to chnage numerous parts to identify which one has...

Anyone got a dead blend motor?

It's not just the potentiometers or cogs that wear out in the blend motors, as I just found out. My passengers side (LH) blend failed, now replaced. But while I had it unscrewed but still connected, I took it appart and it seems the electric motor had stalled, once I manually moved it a tiny...

A pillar outer cover took flight at 110mph

My P38 screen was changed by Autoglass recently. When I booked it in they asked if I could bring it to the depot as they could do a better job when fully under cover. When I arrived the fitter, who seemed very pleased with himself, showed me he had a new screen, a new upper trim and a big bag...

    Rear Bumper Removal

If you get the head off then the bumper will come off. Easiest way is to bang a tight fitting socket onto it then sheer it off. The bracket this bolt goes into is itself removable once the bumber is off. I sheered both mine off, so removed both brackets and drilled out the remaining snapped...

    Tornado re map

So what's so bad with the power of the 4.6? It's no rocket ship, but still does 0 to 60 in 9.6 seconds, that's faster than many family estates. Come a corner you'll feel sick with the body roll at high speeds. The Rangie is not a sports car (Land Rover may have you think the RR Sport is...

    Tornado re map

You'll get a few more HP or maybe 0.5 MPG more with a light right foot, but nothing that'll knock your socks off. Mark designed the Tornado chips essentially to improve the mid range lean map on the GEMS P38 in an effort to prevent the slipped liner issue possibly contributed to by lean burn...

    What a total Prat!!!

As soon as you open a Paypal dispute they will remove the funds from the sellers account and hold it until a decision is made, and this is usually towards the buyer being right. You have to send it back using a tracked service, once the seller receives it he "should" notify Paypal he has it and...

    gota love kwik fit

When they charged mine they couldn't get all the gas in, I had to run the compressor to help suck it in, so I couldn't have used your trick :-( It's about the only thing i'd use Kwik Fit for, they're not badly priced for an air con recharge, and free if there's a fault. Plus even a Kwik Fit...

    Removing Fascia Unit

I replaced the Clarion head unit with a single DIN SAT nav unit from JVC Flipping expensive, but has loads of features (once I managed to get it fully wired up). Supports DVD playback, built in hard drive for MP3s, can control external CD stacker and bluetooth kit for hands free and I also...

    Extended charge time

On a perfectly working system, once initially up to pressure, the pump should run roughly every other press of the brake pedal. If it's running on every press then change the accumulator. Easy to do, de-pressurise the system by pressing the brake pedal 30 times (ignition off of course), then...

    Removing Fascia Unit

Exactly. On the auto models the left most switch is fitted with a blank where the manual would have a range switch, same for the diesels with no front fog light switch. All the switches/blanks can be removed and swapped over etc. You can even fit the SAT nav panel if you really wanted, though...

    Removing Fascia Unit

The facias are pretty much all the same, excepting the majority are all black plastic with a cubby hole for storage. There's a few black plastic with early sat nav, a fewer less burr wallnut with early or late sat nav. They'll all fit on any car.

Harmon / Kardon head unit replacement - definitive 'how-to' and adaptor harnesses

PAC even have a specific instruction sheet for this product for the Range Rover P38: http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIAppGuide.aspx?appguideid=139&swiModel=Range Rover&swiYear=1999&swiMake=Land Rover&swiProduct=SWI-JACK&swiRadioManu=JVC&swiOptions=

Harmon / Kardon head unit replacement - definitive 'how-to' and adaptor harnesses

I've just wired in the PAC SWI-JACK version to control my JVC head unit (with SAT nav, blue-tooth handsfree etc) and it works perfectly. Programming was easy and the steering wheel controls now work a charm. I only needed the one unit, there weren't additional bits required, although I can't...

    non running p38

OP can't, insert fuse, nothing happens. Most other automatic cars can be towed, usually subject to the not over 30mph and for short distance only rule. Not sure 5 miles is with the short distance rule though. Other comments anyone?

    non running p38

For a short distance and keep below 30mph. With the transfer box not in neutral the road wheels will be turning the main gearbox internals, as the engine isn't running so the gearbox oil pump isn't running. Think you can guess what this'll mean if you do this for too long.

    blend motor or hevac problem?

Yes it did, plug the early one into a late vehicle and you'll damage it apparently by blowing a transister. Plug the late one into an early vehicle and it won't work right (or is it the other way round?). It's something to do with switching something directly in the early version and using a...
