Need help in identifying this Diff

Perhaps I am being over sensitive, but it seems if you ask a question you can get a variety of smart backsides wondering why you asked it in the first place!!! If we were all bloody experts then these places would not exist. I ask the question cos I do not know or understand something about a...

Need help in identifying this Diff

The Rover seal did look right when it went in very tightly, so must assume its right, my main concern is why dont the back look like it should if the spec was changed i'd expect my good old Haynes to tell me, shall have to read the bit at the back again see if I've missed something. Thanks...

Need help in identifying this Diff

    Half shaft probs?

I assume if you put the landy in low range and gear the shafts will lock allowing you to tighten the castle nuts, and as I am sure you are aware you cant have the hub in 4x4 and tighten...

    Half shaft probs?

Yes the other wheel was on the floor, and when I did that side 4wd locked it fine. You could just see the front prop shaft turn a little when moving the offside hub, then it stopped and the hub span. so its either worn splines at the diff end or its broken, spose I'll just have to pull it out...

    Half shaft probs?

Just fitted some freewheeeling hubs on my pride and joy, and all went well on the near side, probs started on the off side when putting the castle nut back on. I simply could not lock the shaft as I did with the near side, eventually got it sorted but a bit worried! I could slowly turn the stub...
