    Spacers ?

Thanks for all your help. In my 50 years on this earth, the last 40 of them tinkering with cars and bikes, I had never come across Plus Gas ! Brilliant stuff, when paired with a 600 mm breaker bar, and an overnight soaking. The spacer has come off, but it’s clear I will need to reuse it, as...

    Spacers ?

I think I might, Kermit, but I’m thinking it’s going to be red loctite, and I’m probably going to need 550 degrees plus of heat on each of the ten nuts, and even then I’d not be sure I could get the bad boys off. Unless you’ve got any recommendations, which would be gratefully received...

    Spacers ?

Ey up James. You are a legend, and all round good egg. After feeling completely beaten, and not just a bit f-ed off, I had a couple of pints and watched the last twenty minutes of the rugby, then picked up your reply. A bit of patience, a flat head screwdriver, and a couple of taps with a...

    Spacers ?

Dear All, I’ve whipped the wheels off the lad’s 1993 L-plate 90 200tdi, and have them taken off the callipers, in advance of a vented disc and new callipers. Then I’ve taken off the dust-cap, circlip, and thrust washer, loosened the 5 bolts, and realised, like an utter dummy that it doesn’t...

Disco alloys for 1993 Defender 200tdi

Cheers for that Dag. It has a lovely little set of white steels at the minute, but it will be used for bezzing around the fields by my 20 year old lad as well. Alloys are his first tweak.

EGR blanked - white smoke and power loss

It was the fuel pump timing all along... The geniuses at Kirbymoorside Land Rovers spotted it very soon after I took it to them in exasperation. Thanks for the help.

EGR blanked - white smoke and power loss

Cheers Mark, I bypassed the sedimentor about three years ago, and have changed the oil and oil filter. Perplexing, isn't it ?!

EGR blanked - white smoke and power loss

I'm at my wit's end. Disco 300 tdi had a bit of welding done and my mechanic pal who did it had to drop the fuel tank out. After it was welded and tank refitted I blanked the egr. I'd done a full service before the welding so new filters and oil all round. After blanking it was...

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

Cheers for the replies Maaaargh, Chris, and trax. This forum is chock-ful of legends.

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

I didn't, as I thought blanking at the manifold meant you didn't have to.

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

Lift and fuel pumps seems fine, and I will look at sedimemtor later. I thought this would just take water out. Should I completely remove and clean ? I changed the fuel filter and bled the fuel through. I wasn't sure what you meant by "use clear pipe"? The air filter was filthy but has...

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

I just fitted the blanking plate at the manifold. I was thinking of getting the pipe to bypass completely, and just insulating the electrical feed to the sensor.

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

What about this then, regarding the EGR blanking ? I've a 98 R-reg three door 300 tdi XS, with 94k on the clock. All regularly serviced, with interval being every 6k for oil, and 12k for fuel filter and air filter. I use it as a shooting bus, and had not done anything with her since...

My disco 300tdi 3 door build thread

I am loving this thread, but what are you doing with such a tidy house ???! First the trainers, and most recently the olive oil bottles stacked by height next to the cooker in the steering wheel photo ! Jabbae, you are a disgrace to all young single lads !!! Carry on, bud. It is looking...

The best tool I've ever bought - Irwin bolt extractor

Here is a photo of the item. You just put it on like a normal socket, but I thought I'd give it a bit if a whack with the hammer to make sure it had bitten onto the bolt head. http://www.irwin.co.uk/img/high/download.php?file=cat_boltgrip.jpg

The best tool I've ever bought - Irwin bolt extractor

Yes, they were hex, but because I had done such a great job rounding the bolt head there was nothing for the socket which I tried to grip on.
